Dominican Development Foundation awards microenterprise entrepreneurs

The Dominican Development Foundation (FDD) celebrated its annual awards to outstanding microenterprise entrepreneurs. This activity was carried out after the assembly of partners No. 50 where the members of the Board of Directors of the institution were re-elected.

On June 14, the FDD will turn 51, being a pioneer in important areas, which have changed the destinies of our country.

In his career, he has supported the agricultural sector, as well as the promotion of handicrafts, and since the ’80s pioneer in microcredit as a tool for education and overcoming in the fight against poverty.

The group of entrepreneurs that will continue with the responsibility on the board of the Foundation for the 2017-2018 period is composed of: Elías Juliá Calac, president; Amelia Reyes Mora, vice president; Humberto Sangiovanni, treasurer; René M. Grullón, vice treasurer; Jaime Roca, secretary; María del Carmen Ramos, Deputy Secretary; Maria Isabel Fabián, member; Ramón Franco Thomén, member; María Virginia Elmúdesi, member; Susana Reid Baquero, member and María Del Pilar Cañas López, member.

The directive of the FDD reiterates its commitment to the development of the country thanks to the support of professionals and entrepreneurs with high social sensitivity, who donate their time and economic resources to offer an opportunity to progress and have a decent life to more than one million Dominicans of limited resources, excluded from the national financial system.

Mr. Elías Juliá thanked all the partners of the entity for giving continuity to this noble cause of reducing the gap of social inequality, through the generation of decent employment sources, by granting financing opportunities that promote development. “Our responsibility as entrepreneurs and citizens is to promote equity and contribute to the development to offer our nation a better future,” said the president of the FDD.

During the event, Ms. Altagracia Reynoso was recognized as an entrepreneurial woman and Mr. Jesús María Guerra as an outstanding businessman of the year.

Also, two special awards were granted from some of the most prominent businessmen within the institution’s 50-year history and those who started their business with the support of the FDD, and today they have grown and generated development in the country , Mr. Jorge Caridad, creator of the World of Amber and Larimar Museum, also founder of an institution that trains young people and children with limited resources in the area of ​​arts and Ms. Mercedes Arias Duarte dedicated to the sale of appliances who employ several people in their business.

At the end of the recognition activity, a cocktail was offered in which businessmen, members of the press, winners, and partners of the entity shared to celebrate more than 5 decades of history.
