The Dominican Republic is the first country in the Caribbean and the twelfth in the world where DiDi is present, arriving with a commitment to connect driver partners with users looking for convenient and safe mobility solutions, and to offer Dominicans new opportunities for growth and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n<p>At a time when the economy has been hit by the pandemic, DiDi arrives as a tool to help people earn income independently and contribute to reviving economic activity. The latest bulletin of the National Continuous Labour Force Survey (ENCFT) recorded an 8.8% drop in the employed population compared with the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are convinced of the Dominican Republic&#8217;s great potential. The country enjoys high technology penetration, socio-economic momentum and great tourist attractions. We are eager to offer the best mobility option under our win-win philosophy, which benefits both driver partners and users,&#8221; explained Pablo Mondrag\u00f3n, DiDi&#8217;s general manager for Central America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p>As part of its value proposition, the service fee or commission charged to driver partners will be just 15%, the lowest on the market. The app will also estimate fares based on supply and demand, so affordable rides are always expected to be available.<\/p>\n<p>To mark the start of operations in Santo Domingo, the platform will offer several promotions, including four discount coupons worth up to RD$150 for all users who register before next week and two discount coupons worth RD$120 for those who register after launch day.<\/p>\n<p>A user referral programme is also available, with a 50% discount coupon of up to RD$150 for each referred person who completes their first trip. Coupons are cumulative, and users can earn as many as they successfully refer.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be a driver-to-user referral programme, earning RD$150 for each user who takes their first trip, cumulative and with extra bonuses of up to RD$34,300 for successfully referring 100 users.<\/p>\n<p>These incentives are complemented by the promotion of prevention measures to minimise the likelihood of COVID-19 infection and multiple safety tools, such as sharing trips in real time with trusted contacts, contact between driver partner and user through an anonymous number to protect privacy, an emergency button to contact the 911 emergency line, and DiDi&#8217;s 24\/7 emergency call centre.<\/p>\n<p>Private security patrols will also be available through a local partnership with Dominican Watchman, available 24\/7 to support driver partners or users if needed.<\/p>\n<p>How do you start requesting rides through DiDi?<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;DiDi Pasajero&#8221; app is now available to download from the App Store and Google Play. Registration is simple and, once complete, the platform can be used as soon as the start of operations is announced next week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How do you register as a driver partner?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To become a driver partner, download the &#8220;DiDi Conductor&#8221; app from Google Play or the App Store, upload the required documents and pass the safety checks and other established conditions.
