{"id":12730,"date":"2021-05-03T17:01:07","date_gmt":"2021-05-03T21:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/uncategorized\/promerica-announces-capital-injection-and-rd-800-million-increase-in-regulatory-capital\/"},"modified":"2021-05-03T17:01:07","modified_gmt":"2021-05-03T21:01:07","slug":"promerica-announces-capital-injection-and-rd-800-million-increase-in-regulatory-capital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/en\/press-room\/promerica-announces-capital-injection-and-rd-800-million-increase-in-regulatory-capital\/","title":{"rendered":"Promerica announces capital injection and RD$800 million increase in regulatory capital"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><em>Banco Promerica&#8217;s Shareholders&#8217; Meeting ratified an RD$800 million increase in the institution&#8217;s regulatory capital, including a fresh capital injection of US$5 million, reinvestment of more than RD$200 million in profits and a RD$300 million subordinated debt issue.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Santo Domingo, April 2021.-<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong><span style=\"color: #007036\"> Banco Promerica Dominican Republic<\/span><\/strong> announced that its Annual Ordinary General Shareholders&#8217; Meeting ratified a capital injection and an increase in its regulatory capital of <strong><span style=\"color: #68c41e\">RD$800 million<\/span><\/strong>, to support the institution&#8217;s significant expansion of operations in recent years. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Shareholders&#8217; Meeting, held on 21 April, ratified the approval of a fresh capital injection of <strong><span style=\"color: #68c41e\">US$5 million<\/span><\/strong> from its parent company <strong><span style=\"color: #007036\">Promerica Financial Corporation<\/span><\/strong> and the reinvestment of <strong><span style=\"color: #68c41e\">RD$210 million<\/span><\/strong>, corresponding to all the profits generated by the bank in 2020, as well as a subordinated debt issue on the local capital market of <span style=\"color: #68c41e\"><strong>RD$300 million<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The executive president of <strong><span style=\"color: #007036\">Banco Promerica<\/span><\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #007036\">Carlos Julio Camilo<\/span>, said these capital injections are a clear sign of Banco Promerica&#8217;s shareholders&#8217; confidence in the Dominican economy and in the institution&#8217;s favourable prospects for continuing to consolidate its presence in the Dominican financial system. He also said <strong><span style=\"color: #007036\">Banco Promerica<\/span><\/strong> has become one of the fastest-expanding institutions in the local market, achieving <strong><span style=\"color: #68c41e\">53% growth<\/span><\/strong> in its loan portfolio in 2020. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"color: #007036\">Camilo<\/span> said &#8220;this rapid growth has positioned our bank as the fifth largest private multiple bank in the Dominican Republic, with total assets of around <strong><span style=\"color: #68c41e\">RD$40 billion at the end of March 2021<\/span><\/strong>.
