In its early stages it rarely causes symptoms, but as the disease progresses, certain warning signs may appear.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333\">Urologist <\/span><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong><a style=\"color: #008080\" href=\"https:\/\/my.clevelandclinic.org\/staff\/8554-christopher-weight\">Christopher Weight,<\/a> director of Cleveland Clinic&#8217;s Center for Urologic Oncology,<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #333333\"> says most men with prostate cancer have no signs or symptoms, but recommends talking to your doctor about risk factors if you have any suspicion or notice changes.<\/span><span style=\"color: #333333\">&#8220;Bear in mind that noticing certain symptoms doesn&#8217;t necessarily indicate problems with your prostate, because almost all of them come with ageing,&#8221; explains Dr. Weight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333\">Some possible warning signs:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333\">Slow or weak urine flow<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333\">Frequent need to urinate<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333\">Painful or burning urination<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333\">Blood in the urine<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333\">Prostate pain<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333\">Loss of bladder or bowel control<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333\">Ejaculation problems<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333\">Pain or numbness<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333\">&#8220;There&#8217;s no way to eliminate the risk of getting prostate cancer, but if it&#8217;s diagnosed early, the survival rate is high,&#8221; said Dr. Weight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333\">To reduce the risk of developing the disease, doctors recommend regular prostate check-ups, as well as maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly, eating a nutritious diet and not smoking.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>Testimony: two brothers beat prostate cancer at the same time<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333\"><em>Brothers <strong>Rick and Frank P\u00e9rez<\/strong> were not only diagnosed with <\/em><em>prostate cancer <\/em><em>just weeks apart by the same <strong><span style=\"color: #008080\">Cleveland<\/span><\/strong><\/em><strong><span style=\"color: #008080\"><em> Clinic<\/em><\/span><\/strong><em> urologist, but also received personalised treatment under the same radiation oncologist, Dr. Rahul Tendulkar. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6876 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Rick-y-Frank-Perez-dos-hermanos-superan-el-cancer-de-prostata-al-mismo-tiempo-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"391\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Rick-y-Frank-Perez-dos-hermanos-superan-el-cancer-de-prostata-al-mismo-tiempo-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Rick-y-Frank-Perez-dos-hermanos-superan-el-cancer-de-prostata-al-mismo-tiempo-1024x574.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Rick-y-Frank-Perez-dos-hermanos-superan-el-cancer-de-prostata-al-mismo-tiempo-768x431.jpg 768w, https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Rick-y-Frank-Perez-dos-hermanos-superan-el-cancer-de-prostata-al-mismo-tiempo.jpg 1300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 391px) 100vw, 391px\" \/><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333\">&#8220;It was helpful for both of us to have someone to talk to who was going through the same process,&#8221; recalled Frank, 77.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333\">His brother Ricky said: &#8220;There&#8217;s a history of cancer in our family. And with (early-stage) prostate cancer, there aren&#8217;t many symptoms. If I hadn&#8217;t had a blood test, I wouldn&#8217;t have known.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>Different treatments<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333\">At <strong><span style=\"color: #008080\"><a style=\"color: #008080\" href=\"https:\/\/my.clevelandclinic.org\/departments\/cancer\">Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, Frank underwent  stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), a treatment that delivers higher, more precise doses of radiation over a shorter period. &#8220;I had no pain or discomfort with the procedure,&#8221; he said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333\">Ricky, on the other hand, was not eligible for SBRT because he had undergone artificial hip surgeries, and the metal implants could interfere with the precision and safety of SBRT. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333\">He received another radiation treatment called hypofractionated intensity-modulated radiation therapy.
