From the Dominican Republic, 20 students took part, 10 women and 10 men, meaning 50% of the programme&#8217;s participants were women, up from 25% the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Seeds for the Future<\/strong> 2022 closing ceremony was attended by INDOTEL executive director Julissa Cruz; Innovation Cabinet executive director Bartolom\u00e9 Pujals; Tony Wang, country manager of <strong><mark style=\"color:#c70000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Huawei Dominican Republi<\/mark><\/strong>c; Yunessis S\u00e1nchez, Public Affairs and Communications manager at <strong><mark style=\"color:#c70000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Huawei<\/mark><\/strong>; and Miguel Matos, technical lead at <strong><mark style=\"color:#c70000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Huawei Cloud<\/mark><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Tony Wang thanked the young people for joining <strong>Seeds for the Future<\/strong> and highlighted how taking part drives participants&#8217; development. &#8220;We hope that, as you grow, we can contribute to a better future for our country.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">In her remarks, Julissa Cruz thanked <strong><mark style=\"color:#c70000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Huawei <\/mark><\/strong>for being an ally of the Dominican State and told the students they are society&#8217;s hope. &#8220;Everything we fight for \u2013 the country&#8217;s digital transformation and economic and social development through the use of technology \u2013 you are the ones who will help make it happen. You are a small army of knowledge for the future that will get us to this goal.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Bartolom\u00e9 Pujals congratulated the <strong>Seeds for the Future<\/strong> semi-finalists, telling them they had just received a set of tools they need to become developers and improve the lives of their families and communities. He stressed:<mark style=\"color:#c70000\" class=\"has-inline-color\"> &#8220;There is no innovation without creativity; creativity needs people, and you produce it. You are the source of innovation. It is in your hands to be creators and developers rather than just users.&#8221;<\/mark>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Yunessis S\u00e1nchez, herself a graduate of the <strong>Seeds for the Future<\/strong> programme, said this group brings the total number of graduates to 56, and highlighted that <strong><mark style=\"color:#c70000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Huawei <\/mark><\/strong>ranks second globally among companies dedicated to research and development, with 54.8% of its employees working in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">The programme, which for more than thirteen years has aimed worldwide to develop local talent in <strong><mark style=\"color:#c70000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)<\/mark><\/strong> and train university students in the latest advances in the technology industry, also included students from Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Venezuela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">This year, <strong><mark style=\"color:#c70000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Huawei <\/mark><\/strong>opened the programme to young people from all university degree programmes, not just those linked to <strong><mark style=\"color:#c70000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">ICT<\/mark><\/strong>, and extended it to students across Central America and the Caribbean.
