{"id":12846,"date":"2022-11-25T10:17:23","date_gmt":"2022-11-25T14:17:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/uncategorized\/didi-joins-the-day-against-gender-based-violence\/"},"modified":"2022-11-25T10:17:23","modified_gmt":"2022-11-25T14:17:23","slug":"didi-joins-the-day-against-gender-based-violence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/en\/blog-en\/didi-joins-the-day-against-gender-based-violence\/","title":{"rendered":"DiDi joins the day against gender-based violence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><mark style=\"color:#464646\" class=\"has-inline-color\">99.9% of trips arranged through the app end with no reported incidents.<\/mark><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><mark style=\"color:#464646\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Women are up to 4 times more likely than men to share their trip, allowing their trusted contacts to monitor their location in real time.<\/mark><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dominican Republic, 25 November 2022.<\/strong> Every 25 November marks the <strong><mark style=\"color:#c37488\" class=\"has-inline-color\">International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women<\/mark><\/strong>, in honour of the Dominican sisters <strong><mark style=\"color:#c37488\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Patria, Minerva and Mar\u00eda Teresa Mirabal<\/mark><\/strong>, also known as the <strong><mark style=\"color:#c37488\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Butterflies<\/mark><\/strong>, who were brutally murdered 62 years ago for their fervent opposition to the dictatorship of Rafael Le\u00f3nidas Trujillo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">To mark the <strong><mark style=\"color:#c37488\" class=\"has-inline-color\">International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women<\/mark><\/strong>, <strong><mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">DiDi <\/mark><\/strong>and <strong><mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">DiDi Food <\/mark><\/strong>are focusing their efforts on continuing to create ever-safer spaces for the women who use these apps.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">On the current situation of gender-based violence in the community, a study by the <strong><mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)<\/mark><\/strong> highlights that in the Dominican Republic, 2 in 3 women have experienced some form of violence in their lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">The study, which used data from the first <strong><mark style=\"color:#c37488\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Experimental Survey on the Situation of Women<\/mark><\/strong> published by the <strong><mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">National Statistics Office (ONE)<\/mark><\/strong>, also notes that 39.2% of women aged 15 and over have experienced violence in the community during their lifetime, 84.3% of whom say it happened in the street, a park or on the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Aware of the challenges women face every day, <strong><mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">DiDi<\/mark><\/strong>, <mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">the world&#8217;s leading mobility technology app, has focused on developing a safety ecosystem to minimise risks for female users, drivers and delivery partners.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Conductora.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7630\" width=\"377\" height=\"252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Conductora.png 900w, https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Conductora-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Conductora-768x513.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 377px) 100vw, 377px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;When using <strong><mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">DiDi<\/mark><\/strong>, women are up to 4 times more likely than men to share their trip. However, fewer than 2% of people in the region share their trip with trusted contacts using the in-app option. On this day, we want to urge people to use the app&#8217;s more than 20 safety features and take an active part in their own safety. It is our priority that women also feel free, can go about their activities, achieve economic independence and do so with peace of mind,&#8221; said <strong><mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Adriana Casta\u00f1eda, Director of Safety Policy and Response for Latin America at<\/mark> <mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">DiDi<\/mark><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Education: key for women<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Access to education is one of the factors that makes a crucial difference in women&#8217;s lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Among the most recent projects are virtual workshops for daughters or relatives of female delivery partners, aged 12 to 18, to give them knowledge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, known as STEM.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">The workshops, attended by participants from the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Mexico and Costa Rica, are led by <strong><mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Data C\u00edvica<\/mark><\/strong>, a Mexico-based organisation. The sessions held during November were designed to spark an interest in programming and technology-based careers and show how these disciplines can contribute to social development.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">The call for participants was made through internal channels of the <strong><mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">DiDi Delivery<\/mark><\/strong> app. This app also offers multiple safety tools, such as ongoing assessment of risk areas so that, if necessary, food orders are not arranged in places where the safety and wellbeing of the delivery partner could be compromised.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Other tools available in both <strong><mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">DiDi<\/mark><\/strong> and <strong><mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">DiDi Food<\/mark><\/strong> include the <strong><mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Emergency Button<\/mark><\/strong>, which can be activated during a trip, an anonymous phone number, automatic safety communications and response patrols in partnership with <strong><mark style=\"color:#fc8932\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Dominican Watchman<\/mark><\/strong>, among others.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Technology offers countless possibilities for tackling a social problem such as insecurity and violence against women. Any form of aggression and gender-based violence is behaviour that violates people&#8217;s dignity and that we do not tolerate under any circumstances.
