style=\"color:#00857c\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, president of the Dominican Health Tourism Association (ADTS)<\/mark><\/strong>, and <strong><mark style=\"color:#1d4684\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Amelia Reyes Mora, president of AF Comunicaci\u00f3n Estrat\u00e9gica<\/mark><\/strong>, announced the <strong>leading medical tourism event<\/strong> in Central America and the Caribbean, the <strong><mark style=\"color:#00857c\" class=\"has-inline-color\">&#8220;6th International Congress on Health and Wellness Tourism<\/mark><\/strong>&#8220;, to be held <strong>on 1 and 2 November this year at the JW Marriott Hotel in Santo Domingo.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><mark style=\"color:#00857c\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso<\/mark><\/strong> said that, as in previous years, the event will feature major lectures and panels with renowned national and international speakers, aimed at the sector&#8217;s main players, such as health centres, dentistry, clinical and pharmaceutical laboratories, hotels, insurers, banks, investment funds, airlines, medical facilitators, government, transport, legal and accreditation bodies, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">He also highlighted the growth of <strong><mark style=\"color:#00857c\" class=\"has-inline-color\">health tourism<\/mark><\/strong> in the country, which <strong>generates more than RD$15,000 million a year in the Dominican Republic<\/strong>, becoming an<strong> important source of job creation<\/strong>, innovation, investment and foreign currency, which translates into better medicine for all Dominicans and tourists. &#8220;That is why activities like this support public-private synergies and the country&#8217;s development as a safe tourist destination,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">He also stated that &#8220;holding this congress promotes quality, safety and compliance with local standards and international accreditations to strengthen our health indicators and drive the modernisation and digital transformation of the Dominican health sector&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><mark style=\"color:#1d4684\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Amelia Reyes Mora<\/mark><\/strong> said the event contributes to updating knowledge, integration and business development, as well as positioning<strong> health tourism as an activity of national and regional interest.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">She added that the country receives approximately 60,000 international patients through <strong><mark style=\"color:#00857c\" class=\"has-inline-color\">health tourism<\/mark><\/strong> and more than 70,000 tourists who are assisted through tourist medicine, with investment in the sector exceeding US$500 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">The<strong><mark style=\"color:#00857c\" class=\"has-inline-color\"> ADTS vice president <\/mark><\/strong>also said that &#8220;we are at a crucial moment in which new tourist destinations are being developed, so new health and wellness developments must be integrated into this planning to ensure a successful comprehensive vision that drives the development of new market niches such as retiree tourism and wellness tourism&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">The major event, organised by <strong><mark style=\"color:#00857c\" class=\"has-inline-color\">ADTS<\/mark><\/strong> and the <strong><mark style=\"color:#1d4684\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Communication and Public Relations firm AF Comunicaci\u00f3n Estrat\u00e9gica<\/mark><\/strong>, brought together more than 800 participants in its two most recent editions, with around 70 speakers from the Dominican Republic, the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Panama, Spain, Colombia and the Caribbean islands, and more than 110 sponsors, who have become a driving force for continuing to raise the competitiveness of the country&#8217;s health and tourism services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks to the work and efforts of <strong><mark style=\"color:#00857c\" class=\"has-inline-color\">ADTS <\/mark><\/strong>on behalf of the sector, the country has become the leading destination in the Caribbean region, and through Decree 787-21, <strong>President Luis
