N.-<\/strong> <strong><mark style=\"color:#061085\" class=\"has-inline-color\">The Dominican Institute for Quality, INDOCAL<\/mark><\/strong>, has announced the availability of a <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Technical Standard for Medical Tourism<\/mark><\/strong>, which defines quality criteria for the sector&#8217;s value chain in order to ensure best practices and the safety of patients and their families, promoting protocols and standards that will increase confidence in the country as a destination for health services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><mark style=\"color:#061085\" class=\"has-inline-color\">INDOCAL<\/mark><\/strong> director general Lorenzo Ram\u00edrez said that <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">NORDOM ISO 22525:2020<\/mark><\/strong>, approved by the<strong><mark style=\"color:#061085\" class=\"has-inline-color\"> Dominican Council for Quality, CODOCA<\/mark><\/strong>, provides a holistic approach to healthcare at every stage of the patient experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Ram\u00edrez reported that the standard, aligned with national development goals, went through a thorough consultation process by the <strong><mark style=\"color:#061085\" class=\"has-inline-color\">INDOCAL Tourism Technical Committee<\/mark><\/strong>, made up of experts from the <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Ministry of Tourism (MITUR)<\/mark><\/strong>, the <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Ministry of Public Health (MSP)<\/mark><\/strong>, the <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Dominican Health Tourism Association (ADTS)<\/mark><\/strong>, the <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Hotel and Tourism Association (ASONAHORES)<\/mark><\/strong> and other bodies, which reached a consensus to promote it in support of the safety of this thriving market niche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Welcoming the initiative, <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, president of ADTS<\/mark><\/strong>, said that the <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">NORDOM ISO 22525 <\/mark><\/strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">medical tourism<\/mark> standard is based on compliance with the <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Ministry of Public Health&#8217;s<\/mark><\/strong> local licensing and accreditation standards, the <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Ministry of Tourism&#8217;s<\/mark><\/strong> regulatory standards and, in addition, specialised international ISO standards for medical tourism that have been validated by dozens of countries, which represents a major step forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Cambiaso said the standard does not replace international accreditations;
