has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">health sector.<\/mark><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"> <\/mark><\/strong>These are expected to include greater efficiency and effectiveness in diagnosis, especially in reading medical images such as X-rays and MRI scans, where <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">AI<\/mark><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"> <\/mark><\/strong>algorithms can detect conditions that might go unnoticed by the <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">human eye.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Fedor Vidal, CEO of Arium Salud Digital,<\/mark><\/strong><strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"> AI <\/mark><\/strong>will also give a decisive boost to personalised, patient-centred medicine by analysing large clinical data sets to identify trends and patterns that can guide the development and delivery of individualised treatments through <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">DNA<\/mark><\/strong> analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" health<\/mark><\/strong> expert, this is because last year saw a significant increase in companies offering<strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"> DNA<\/mark><\/strong> analysis, many of them offering whole <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">genome<\/mark><\/strong> sequencing, which is helping to expand databases of <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">genetic information.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vidal says AI will also have a significant impact on<strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"> robotic surgery, <\/mark><\/strong>improving the precision and efficiency of <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">surgical procedures. <\/mark><\/strong>Finally, <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">cybersecurity and patient data protection <\/mark><\/strong>will be key areas where<strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"> AI <\/mark><\/strong>will be used to strengthen defences against cyber threats and ensure the confidentiality of<strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"> medical information.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"><em>&#8220;Although there is still a long way to go before many AI-related technologies can be used widely, this year there will be a notable emphasis on creating algorithms for the early detection of disease,&#8221;<\/em><\/mark> said Vidal, who also created the <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Latin American Digital Health Congress in the Dominican Republic.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that another area that will continue to develop is<strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"> virtual assistance, <\/mark><\/strong>mainly for populations with specific diseases, as will telemedicine, which is evolving into<strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"> telemedicine 2.0,<\/mark><\/strong> with fundamental advances in remote patient management, especially for older people and patients at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This includes features such as:<\/strong> electronic scheduling, automated insurance validation and chatbots for booking appointments and consultations, as well as remote telemedicine and remote second opinions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Progress in digital transformation in the Dominican Republic in 2024<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He noted that in the <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Dominican Republic<\/mark><\/strong> there has been a welcome increase in the adoption of new technologies as a gateway to healthcare centres, allowing greater accessibility and self-management by patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, a digital transformation is under way in<strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"> healthcare centres, <\/mark><\/strong>with growing recognition of the importance of technology in clinical and administrative operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">no radical decisions are yet being taken<\/mark><\/strong> on changes to core systems, preliminary analyses and assessments of the potential impact of digitalisation are being carried out, said<strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"> Vidal.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Interoperability,<\/mark><\/strong> at both<strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"> national and local level,<\/mark><\/strong> is improving, with greater emphasis on standardising systems and sharing clinical information between providers and health systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">telemedicine<\/mark><\/strong> has been adopted more slowly in the country, there has been an increase in remote first consultations, especially for <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">health tourism.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the expert, overall, 2024 promises to be a period of <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">intense activity in the digital transformation of the health sector in the Dominican Republic, <\/mark><\/strong>laying the foundations for further progress and positioning in <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">health
