{"id":12986,"date":"2024-04-12T14:35:40","date_gmt":"2024-04-12T18:35:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/uncategorized\/huawei-promotes-the-inclusion-of-more-women-in-the-ict-sector-2\/"},"modified":"2024-04-12T14:35:40","modified_gmt":"2024-04-12T18:35:40","slug":"huawei-promotes-the-inclusion-of-more-women-in-the-ict-sector-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/en\/press-room\/huawei-promotes-the-inclusion-of-more-women-in-the-ict-sector-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Huawei promotes the inclusion of more women in the ICT sector"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Through its &#8220;Tech for Her, Tech by Her, Tech with Her&#8221; strategy, the company aims to create more opportunities for women to learn key digital skills.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Santo Domingo.<\/strong> Recognising that diversity is key to driving innovation and a fundamental aspect of the development of the <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">technology sector,<\/mark><\/strong> companies are increasingly aware of the role women play in the labour market, specifically in technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To help close the digital divide and ensure everyone shares in the benefits of technology,<strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\"> Huawei <\/mark><\/strong>has committed to creating opportunities that include support for women, in order to build an inclusive society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wang Wei, CEO of <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Huawei <\/mark><\/strong>in the Dominican Republic, said this commitment is reflected in many of the initiatives they have launched around the world in support of gender equality and inclusion, such as <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">&#8216;Tech for Her, Tech by Her, Tech with Her&#8217;,<\/mark><\/strong> as well as in the concrete actions Huawei has taken to increase women&#8217;s participation and contribution to the technology sector and the digital economy in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Huawei<\/mark><\/strong> representative in the country said they will continue their efforts in ICT to promote the transfer of knowledge to young local talent. <em><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">&#8220;We are committed to the country&#8217;s digitalisation and we work with a range of institutions; we hope to contribute even more so that the Dominican Republic can build a more connected and inclusive society,&#8221;<\/mark><\/em> said Wang Wei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Huawei&#8217;s<\/mark><\/strong> efforts is to provide education, training and digital opportunities for all through its flagship CSR programme, Seeds for the Future.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Participantes-de-RD-en-Semillas-para-el-Futuro-2023-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9191\" style=\"width:527px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Participantes-de-RD-en-Semillas-para-el-Futuro-2023-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Participantes-de-RD-en-Semillas-para-el-Futuro-2023-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/afcomunicacion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Participantes-de-RD-en-Semillas-para-el-Futuro-2023-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the 2023 edition of <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Seeds for the Future,<\/mark><\/strong> Central America and the Caribbean achieved more than 44% female participation, making it one of the regions with the highest number of women taking part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Kamila Chantal Acevedo Rodr\u00edguez,<\/mark><\/strong> a final-year Business Management student specialising in International Business and a participant from the Dominican Republic in the 2023 edition, said she felt she was treated equally on the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">&#8220;Seeds for the Future was designed for men and women. It was an enriching experience where I got to meet people from all over the world, interact with students from different degree programmes, and visit another country and learn about its culture,&#8221;<\/mark><\/em> said Kamila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">&#8220;In recent years, Huawei has helped close the gender gap by developing projects such as Equal ICT, dedicated to strengthening the ICT knowledge of women in the Latin American region. We hope to train more than 1,000 women this year through the project,&#8221;<\/mark><\/em> added the <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Huawei<\/mark><\/strong> executive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Likewise, to encourage participation in the technology industry and give women more opportunities, <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Huawei <\/mark><\/strong>issued its <strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Gender Equality Statement,<\/mark><\/strong> focusing on five key elements: improving diversity and ensuring equality in hiring; promoting women&#8217;s leadership at all levels; providing professional and family care for employees; fostering an open, inclusive and safe corporate culture; and providing education, training and digital opportunities for all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Santo Domingo.
