It is entirely outpatient, and patients can return to their daily activities almost immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I should point out that when this same type of treatment is delivered outside the brain, it is known as Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy, popularly known as Extracranial Radiosurgery, and the same concepts apply, except for the stereotactic frame, which is not used outside the brain,&#8221; explains Dr. Luis Moreno S\u00e1nchez, head of the HOMS Radiotherapy Unit, a radiation oncologist and nuclear medicine physician.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Dr. Moreno S\u00e1nchez, radiosurgery has specific indications and is prescribed for patients who meet the necessary criteria, hence the importance of multidisciplinary medical assessment and management, with the aim of achieving remission of the tumour, local control, or irradiation of the surgical bed where the tumour or lesion is located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2015, HOMS specialists successfully performed the first extracranial radiosurgery procedure using advanced technology at its Cancer Centre.
