DiDi Moto is coming to Santo Domingo

• The Dominican Republic will be the first country in the region to have this service.

Santo Domingo, March 2022. In a few weeks, Santo Domingo will have a new technology product making it easier to get around the capital. It is DiDi Moto, a service that will connect users who need to travel quickly, safely and affordably within the city with motorbike owners connected to the platform.

The Dominican Republic will be the first country in Spanish-speaking America to have DiDi Moto and the second on the whole continent where the product is available, after Brazil, which launched the service in January under the 99 brand. The Dominican Republic is thus consolidating its position as one of DiDi’s most important expansion fronts.

“The Dominican Republic continues to prove it is the best gateway to the Caribbean. The potential we see to keep contributing to more efficient, safe and affordable mobility ecosystems is very high. DiDi Moto will allow many motorbike owners to earn independent income, connecting whenever they want and taking advantage of a robust technology platform that we continually improve to meet the demands of the Dominican market,” said Jorge Ordóñez, regional director of DiDi.

Once the service is enabled, users will be able to access DiDi Moto within the same DiDi Pasajero app they currently use to request Express rides, which connects them with private cars. There is no need to download additional platforms or register again.

In this way, DiDi Moto will complement DiDi’s portfolio of technology solutions in the country, with an option for fast trips without worrying about traffic congestion in the capital.

 

Time to hop on a Moto

Anyone who wants to register as a driver partner with DiDi Moto can do so from today by downloading the “DiDi Conductor” app and completing registration. The documents required to start the process are: a driving licence and vehicle registration or, failing that, a Route Letter. Driver partners must be over 18 and upload a photo of their face to the platform. Once this step is complete, background checks and requirement verification will begin.

The first 1,000 driver partners to complete their registration correctly will enjoy great welcome promotions during their first week using the app. For example, they will be guaranteed a minimum of extra income. The amount and terms and conditions of this promotion will be announced soon.

DiDi Moto partners will have access to more than 20 safety features for before, during and after each trip. These include response patrols for on-site support through Dominican Watchman, user verification, encrypted and hidden phone numbers, trusted contacts and GPS monitoring to detect deviations or abnormal routes, among others.
