Dominican Republic, September 2018.- Mariluz Marrero and his whole family faced a new stage of life in 2004 that was not within their plans. She was diagnosed with breast cancer, and in 2005, after receiving chemotherapy, she had to undergo surgery. After his diagnosis, other members of his family also went through the same health condition.
To patients who live a similar situation, Mariluz recommends that “never stop taking your treatment, the conventional thing for cancer is the maximum, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, take your treatment as directed.”
“When I was diagnosed with cancer I was already in grade IIIB, and thank God I am alive because I took all my treatment and even today I do not neglect with my annual visit to the doctor, I am not missing, because it could arise again,” he says.
This 58-year-old woman did not give up, and today she volunteers at the Dr. Heriberto Pieter Cancer Institute, where she encourages other women who are going through a breast cancer process.
