  • Huawei executives took part in the third ENERGYEAR 2022 congress, a forum that promotes renewable energy and brings together more than 400 industry experts.

Santo Domingo, October 2022.- At the third ENERGYEAR Caribe 2022 congress, Huawei, a global leader in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, took part in the panel New Technologies Applied to Photovoltaic Plant Development and Performance, with the aim of continuing to drive the digitalisation of the energy sector and working with industries to achieve carbon neutrality and build a better, more sustainable future.

This year, ENERGYEAR Caribe 2022 brings together more than 60 expert speakers across 12 panels and presentations, with the aim of continuing to accelerate the development of clean energy in the region.

The Dominican Republic, host of this third ENERGYEAR Caribe 2022, is working to meet its Millennium Sustainable Development commitment to integrate 25% renewable sources into the national electricity mix by 2025, and to have at least 30% of the mix come from sources considered clean because they emit zero greenhouse gases.

The event, which brought together more than 400 industry opinion leaders, was attended by Huawei executives Félix Chen, Central America and Caribbean director of Huawei Digital Power; Hery Wang, President of Huawei Digital Power Latin America; and Juan Rodríguez Benavides, Solar Energy & Storage Latin America Multi-Country director at Huawei Digital Power.

Hery Wang, President of Huawei Digital Power Latin America

“With the goal of achieving carbon neutrality and clean energy, Huawei is greatly increasing its investment. That is why Huawei Digital Power Company was created. Our vision is to digitalise traditional energy and develop green energy by integrating digital and power electronics technologies to drive the energy revolution for a better, greener future. More specifically, Huawei Digital Power is about using bits to manage watts, using digital technologies to manage power electronics and equipment,” explained Hery Wang.

The company offers cutting-edge smart PV solutions: by integrating Cloud and Artificial Intelligence, Huawei brings the latest ICT technologies to photovoltaics for optimal power generation, laying the foundation for making solar power the main source of energy.

This third ENERGYEAR congress was attended by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte; the Vice Minister for Government Energy Saving, Alfonso Rodríguez; the executive director of the National Energy Commission, Edward Veras; and the Superintendent of Electricity, Andrés Astacio, among other key players in the sector.
