Banco Promerica joins Google Wallet in the Dominican Republic

- Banco Promerica customers can now add their credit and debit cards to Google Wallet and pay with Google Pay without carrying the physical card.
Santo Domingo, 7 November 2023 – Banco Promerica announced that, from today, its credit and debit cards are integrated with Google Wallet, enabled by Google Pay, allowing cardholders to add their cards and enjoy simple, secure contactless payments on Android and Wear OS devices.
Banco Promerica customers with the bank’s credit and debit cards will be able to enable them in “Google Pay” and make transactions without carrying the physical card, giving customers more options and convenience when paying.
Banco Promerica credit and debit cardholders can add their cards to Google Wallet, a digital wallet launching today in the Dominican Republic, and make payments anywhere contactless payments are accepted. As well as payments, cardholders can also store their loyalty cards, boarding passes and event tickets in their Google Wallet.
“We firmly believe that both the market and Dominican consumers value a simple payment experience, and that is where these new capabilities enabled by Banco Promerica and Google contribute to the development of the payments ecosystem in the Dominican Republic, making it more convenient for our customers when paying in shops,” said Carlos Julio Camilo, executive president of Banco Promerica Dominican Republic.

The service for Banco Promerica customers is available from 7 November for Visa credit and debit cards. Google Wallet is accepted at all merchants that take contactless payments. Customers can set up the wallet on their Android phone or Wear OS device by following these steps:
● Open the Google Wallet app or download it from Google Play
● Tap “Add to Wallet” and follow the instructions
● Verify the card if necessary
Using Google Wallet also makes payments more secure by building in multiple layers of security, in addition to the protections your Banco Promerica card already provides. Security and privacy are built into every part of Google Wallet. Actual card numbers are never shared, keeping users and issuers protected.
In addition, if the device is lost or stolen, the “Find My Device” feature can be used to lock it, secure it with a new password or instantly erase all personal information.
