Santo Domingo, March 2024. – A commitment to internationalisation and the application of technology in medicine is the promise of Médico Express, a modern outpatient centre that aims to become a benchmark for medical and technological advances, sustainability and innovation.
As a differentiating feature in Santo Domingo Este, the centre is embarking on the automation of patient-centred processes, implementing software that will integrate medical records, medical imaging, laboratory results and administrative matters.
Francesco Fino, commercial vice president of Médico Express, said they will have a patient portal where users can view their medical history and tests and book appointments efficiently.
The patient experience will be prioritised from the moment they access the various services until the end of the process, providing continuity of care. It will also have spacious areas designed with natural light and therapeutic gardens.
The insurance sector specialist explained that the project will have strategic partnerships with major healthcare centres and will work hand in hand with the local and international insurance sector, highlighting the important preventive role of outpatient centres in saving time and costs for patients and insurers, with a positive impact on the Dominican health system.
He also highlighted that Médico Express will pioneer multiple technologies in Santo Domingo Este, including telemedicine and remote second opinions, electronic medical records, smart outpatient operating theatres and cutting-edge equipment such as a 128-slice CT scanner, 1.5 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with artificial intelligence and 3D tomosynthesis.
Strategic partnerships
As a guarantee of its commitment to quality services, Médico Express has formed partnerships with various national institutions such as the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), with both organisations committing to develop and implement projects in education and research.
Likewise, thanks to its partnership with Laboratorios Clínico Amadita, it will offer patients access to a wide catalogue of tests with reliable, timely results, while Arium Salud Digital will be responsible for the technology systems of the modern centre, which will open on the San Isidro motorway.
They also signed agreements with renowned international medical centres, such as Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá and BarnaClinic, to ensure the continued exchange of knowledge and remote second opinions.
The concept for this healthcare centre was conceived by Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, recognised for his contributions to health tourism, and Francesco Fino, an insurance sector specialist.
In addition, Médico Express will drive economic growth in the eastern area, creating more than 200 direct and 400 indirect jobs. It will also boost health tourism in the country, as it will have an international department, giving Dominicans living abroad and tourists the opportunity to access this innovative medical centre.
