Electric power solutions unveiled to drive the global energy transition

• At Mobile World Congress 2023, Huawei launched four electric power solutions to drive the global energy transition.

[Barcelona, Spain] At this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC 2023), together with major industry partners and companies, Huawei launched 4 electric power solutions to drive the global energy transition: the power distribution IoT solution, the smart substation inspection solution, the wireless campus solution and the smart wind power network solution.

Zhou Haojie, COO of the Electric Power Digitalisation Business Unit at Huawei, gave a keynote speech at the summit. He presented 4 new solutions and introduced successful practices of Huawei solutions in power grid scenarios.

Zhou noted that the power distribution IoT solution, centred on a ‘cloud-pipe-device’ architecture, consists of two sub-solutions: smart integrated TTUs and smart power distribution rooms. The solution offers functions such as data awareness, edge processing and smart applications, which meet the application requirements of various power distribution scenarios and ensure the secure, stable and efficient operation of the distribution network.

The smart substation inspection solution eliminates 70% of the manual inspection workload by detecting device status in real time and intelligently identifying potential faults. The solution helps customers implement unmanned and less-manned substation operation and maintenance, improving O&M efficiency while reducing O&M costs.

The Electric Power wireless campus solution helps build an ecosystem-friendly, secure and reliable end-to-end campus network for power companies. It provides high-quality access services for mobile office and inspection operations, integrating sensing with communication and cutting network construction costs by 50%.

The smart wind power network solution remotely manages wind farm equipment to increase power generation, improve management efficiency and reduce safety risks.

Darmawan Prasodjo, President Director of PT PLN (Indonesia’s State Electricity Company) highlighted the crucial role of technology and green initiatives in enabling PLN to achieve its strategic goals. “By harnessing technological advances and embracing sustainability, PLN can accelerate the energy transition and improve its business performance while contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future,” Darmawan added.
