HOMS Health & Wellness Center signs inter-institutional collaboration agreement with PUCMM

- The Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago (HOMS) and PUCMM signed an agreement for Tourism and Gastronomy students to complete 360-hour internships at the HOMS Health & Wellness Center.
SANTIAGO: Since its founding, the Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago (HOMS) has been known for training highly capable specialist doctors, both professionally and personally; it is now extending its educational commitment to tourism and gastronomy with the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) through an inter-institutional agreement with the HOMS Health & Wellness Center (HHWC).
This strategic alliance allows students from the PUCMM School of Tourism and Gastronomy to complete 360-hour professional internships at the HOMS Health & Wellness Center.
The agreement was formalised by the rector of PUCMM, Father Secilio Espinal Espinal, and Dr. Rafael Sánchez Español, Chairman of the Board of HOMS.
Father Espinal Espinal explained that the university’s mission is to train competitive professionals committed to the development of their community, and he is confident this commitment with HOMS will be of great benefit to students of the School of Tourism and Gastronomy.
Dr. Sánchez Español, also known as the “Master of Surgery”, highlights that the hospital has had a teaching soul from the start, so through this agreement it reaffirms its strong commitment to continuing education, broadening students’ practical skills, which together with a vocation for service will open up greater professional opportunities for them.
“Making the facilities of the HOMS Health & Wellness Center available is a contribution to keep training quality, capable professionals who, above all, always put humanity and service first,” said Sánchez Español.
HOMS is a pioneer in robotic surgery in the Dominican Republic and holds international accreditation from Accreditation Canada (ACI) as a guarantee of safety and quality of care, positioning it as the leader in health tourism in the north of the country.
The event was attended by authorities from PUCMM and the Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago, who witnessed the signing of the agreement, which boosts the tourism and gastronomy sector.
