- The topics were presented at “Latam Future Energy”, an event bringing together top executives and leaders of the Latin American energy sector who promote the development of new technologies.
Santo Domingo, March 2022.- At Central America and the Caribbean’s most important renewable energy event, “Latam Future Energy”, Huawei executives presented progress towards energy digitalisation and the main trends moving the markets of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean towards a renewable energy transition, with the aim of helping companies achieve carbon neutrality.

At the event, held for the first time in the Dominican Republic, Huawei’s panellists highlighted that through Huawei Digital Power, the division dedicated to integrating digital and power electronics technologies, they have driven the adoption of and innovation in clean energy generation, its digitalisation, and green ICT infrastructure powered by artificial intelligence.
They stressed that, through Digital Power, Huawei is committed to accelerating the pace of environmental conservation and emissions reduction.
“The energy market is constantly evolving, requiring agility and adaptability, with the aim of revolutionising our region’s market. This industry is so innovative that it has up to 10 differentiating trends, opening the field for energy industry professionals to innovate with us across different technology pillars, such as digitalisation, PV plants with storage solutions and AI-driven active safety, improving the user, management and safety experience,” said Felix Chen, president of Huawei Digital Power Central America and Caribbean.
At the event, Juan Rodríguez Benavides, Smart PV Director for Huawei Digital Power, spoke on “The road to digitalisation and energy transformation”, covering technologies to accelerate the green transition, the trends driving the innovative energy market and the focus on implementing them. In addition to this presentation, Huawei also took part in a panel on the differentiating technologies driving change, entitled “The state of solar PV in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean: new developments and technological solutions.
“Generating energy through PV solutions is not new in our region. What takes us to a level of excellence for users, both operators and consumers, is how we incorporate modern key factors such as AI, I-V curve analysis platforms and safety typologies, so that generation can produce more watts for every installed plant, together with better management tools, improving our customers’ experience. It’s also important to highlight that safety protocols guarantee users continuity of generation and uninterrupted daily operation and maintenance tasks,” says Rodríguez Benavides.

Likewise, Ricardo Garro, Key Account Director for Smart PV at Huawei Digital Power, addressed the topic “Distributed Generation and Storage: Great Allies of the Industrial, Commercial and Residential Sectors”.
Huawei executives noted that the world is experiencing an unprecedented technological revolution, posing a challenge for the infrastructure and development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
