INTEC and Macrotech sign educational and scientific agreement for the Biomedical Engineering degree

• INTEC and Macrotech signed an academic and scientific collaboration agreement to strengthen the Biomedical Engineering degree.

Santo Domingo. – The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and Macrotech, a company specialising in designing and delivering comprehensive service offerings for the health sector, have signed a collaboration agreement that seeks to encourage and facilitate educational and scientific activities aimed at continuously improving society’s quality of life and the country’s sustained development.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Julio Sánchez Mariñez, rector of INTEC, and Joaquín Toribio, founder and current general director of Macrotech.

Sánchez Mariñez welcomed Macrotech’s support in implementing educational and scientific initiatives for Biomedical Engineering students, as well as an internship programme for final-year students from various degree programmes at the university.

For his part, Macrotech’s general director said they were delighted to contribute to society by developing technical capabilities focused on designing solutions to highly complex health problems, creating high-value differentiators.

“We are pleased to support the INTEC Faculty of Engineering by making our laboratory available to students for the practical component of the Biomedical Engineering degree, reinforcing our commitment to contributing to society and its sustainability,” said Joaquín Toribio.

Attending the signing ceremony, held on the university campus, on behalf of Macrotech were Melissa Bisonó, commercial director; Esteban Rodríguez, senior regional marketing manager; and Norelyn Ramírez, regional communications manager.

On behalf of INTEC were Alliet Ortega, vice-rector for Administration and Finance; Arturo del Villar, academic vice-rector; Dalul Ordehi, dean of Social Sciences and Humanities; Luis de Francisco, dean of Basic and Environmental Sciences; Miguel Robiou, dean of Health Sciences; and Cayetano Rodríguez, dean of Engineering.

Also present were Manuel Peña, dean of Economics and Business; Gregorio Tapia, executive director of Development, Institutional Relations and Alumni; Anny Sosa, director of Institutional Relations; and Junior Polanco, full professor and manager of the agreement.
