As part of this biennial event, the Minister of Health, Dr. Daniel Rivera, presented a copy of the Health Plan 2030 (PLANDES 2030) to the congress organisers, Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, president of the Dominican Health Tourism Association (ADTS), and Amelia Reyes Mora, president of AF Comunicación Estratégica and vice president of ADTS.

The minister highlighted the efforts of Cambiaso and Reyes Mora in positioning health tourism in the Dominican Republic, encouraging the Dominican government to take up the issue as part of its agenda in the health and tourism sectors.

This edition, which brought together more than 400 participants, featured more than 40 national and international speakers, and Dr. Cambiaso presented the results of the second Health Tourism Study and Diagnosis in the Dominican Republic, co-sponsored by Banco de Reservas.

This time they went to the Medical Centre for Diabetes, Obesity and Specialties (CEMDOE), for being the first outpatient healthcare centre in the country accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI), and to the Dominican Institute for Quality (INDOCAL) for driving the adoption of the Technical Standard for medical tourism NORDOM ISO 22525:2020, approved by the Dominican Council for Quality (CODOCA), which promotes protocols and standards that will raise confidence in the country as a destination for health services.

To close the agenda of the 6th edition, an Investment Breakfast was held, where new projects in the sector with an estimated value of US$331 million were presented, which would create 4,050 jobs.
