Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and Production and Banco Promerica sign strategic alliance for women’s business development

• The Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and Production and Banco Promerica signed an alliance to boost companies in which women hold more than 51% of the shares.

Santo Domingo, August 2024: – The Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and Production (CCPSD) and Banco Promerica have signed a strategic alliance to encourage the participation of companies in which women hold more than 51% of the shares, with the aim of driving women’s business development.

Banco Promerica, committed to its mission of building relationships and offering products and services that help its customers overcome cultural, economic, personal or geographical limits, has reaffirmed its dedication to the inclusion and economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs. The bank has the SME development programme “ProInnova”, made up of a series of financial and non-financial benefits, which includes “ProInnovadora” with benefits aimed specifically at women entrepreneurs.

As part of this collaboration, the CCPSD has created the MujerES Directory, the first fully online business directory, with more than 40,000 records of companies whose shareholders are 51% or more women. This tool is part of the Gender Parity Initiative, a public-private alliance that promotes affirmative action for women’s economic empowerment.

For her part, Lucile Houellemont, President of the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce, highlighted after signing the agreement that women’s participation in productive systems has been fundamental to economic growth. She also noted that opportunity gaps still exist, which the Chamber has set out to help eliminate through alliances with various institutions.

“This agreement not only represents a strategic alliance between two institutions committed to economic and social development but is also a testament to our joint commitment to gender equality,” she said.

This alliance between the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and Production and Banco Promerica is a significant step forward in promoting gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in the business sector. Both institutions will continue working together to create a more inclusive and equitable business environment.
