SNS director praises the modernity and digitalisation of CEMDOE (Diabetes, Obesity and Specialties Medical Centre)

  • The modern centre has state-of-the-art technology and was designed with patient experience, quality and safety in mind.

Santo Domingo. – During a courtesy visit to the Diabetes, Obesity and Specialties Medical Centre (CEMDOE), the executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Dr. Mario Lama, praised the health centre’s fully digitalised and innovative care model.

Dr. Gastón Gabin, CEO of CEMDOE; Fedor Vidal, CEO of Arium Salud Digital; and Monika Harel, director of Communications and Institutional Relations at CEMDOE, guided the SNS director’s visit to the first centre in the country to be born fully digitalised.

According to the executives, the meeting covered good practices in the health sector, collaboration on digitalisation and education, and the exchange of knowledge to strengthen the safety and quality of clinical services provided in the Dominican Republic.

During his visit to the outpatient medical centre on Luperón Avenue in Santo Domingo, the head of the SNS toured the Nephrology and Haemodialysis, Imaging and Diabetic Foot areas. He also congratulated the team on offering a comprehensive care model that combines integrated care with a preventive and educational approach and high technology.

Lama was accompanied by SNS doctors Yocasta Lara, director of Hospital Centres; Martín Ortiz, director of Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health; and Roberto Nina, head of Maternal and Neonatal Health; as well as César López, president of the Dominican Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

CEMDOE’s facilities were designed to the demanding international standards of Joint Commission International (JCI). The centre covers a built area of more than 20,000 square metres, currently housing 42 consulting rooms and more than 35 specialties.

CEMDOE is part of INTEGRA, the Dominican Republic’s first health ecosystem, made up of six complementary organisations pursuing the same goal: improving the population’s health in a sustainable way.
