The newspaper organization also ranks Cleveland Clinic Florida as No. 1 in the Miami-Ft metropolitan area. Lauderdale.
WESTON, Fla. –- Cleveland Clinic, for 18 years in a row one of the five major pillars in the annual classification of hospitals issued by U.S. News & World Report, has risen to No. 2 in the US, but also maintains its position as the nation’s No. 1 hospital in cardiology and heart surgery for the twenty-second consecutive year.
The annual survey of the best hospitals also ranked Cleveland Clinic Florida as number 1 among 70 hospitals in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area for 2016-2017. The Miami-Fort Lauderdale metro area includes Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach, and serves as an important gateway to Latin American and Caribbean patients seeking high-quality care.
“It has been excellent news that our colleagues have recognized our focus on patient quality and safety,” said Wael Barsoum, M.D., president of Cleveland Clinic Florida. “These awards are due to our clinical staff, truly dedicated to providing exceptional service and putting patients first.”
In addition to classifications in the metropolitan area, U.S. News & World Report also ranked Cleveland Clinic Florida in fifth place among 263 Florida hospitals, a four-way rise over the previous year. Several specialties were also recognized, since gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery ranked 49th nationally, and orthopedics and geriatrics were classified as high-performance specialties.
“The classification is an important milestone for our organization at the regional level because in this way our patients in Latin America and the Caribbean will have the peace of mind of knowing that they can find the most advanced medical care with just a short plane trip,” Barsoum said.
Cleveland Clinic Florida expands world-class medical care
U.S. News publishes the list of Best Hospitals as a guide for those patients who need a high level of care for complicated surgeries, a delicate medical condition or an increased risk due to other health problems or age. In most specialties, the classification was largely determined by objective measures, such as patient survival and safety data, the adequacy of nursing staff levels, and other data.
