3 minutes read
- World Fried Chicken Day is celebrated every 6 July, a date that invites people to share a table with family and friends and enjoy crispy, juicy fried chicken. DiDi Food wants to celebrate this delicious date with its users, offering promotions on orders placed through the app at the 12 active KFC restaurants in Santo Domingo.
Santo Domingo, 6 July 2022. In the Dominican Republic, fried chicken is known as “the favourite par excellence”, with a variety of businesses and formats offering it, such as pica pollo at informal eateries, and restaurants that never fail to include it on their menus for diners. At fast food outlets, fried chicken is also in high demand thanks to its affordable prices and the range of options available.
In recent decades, fried chicken has become part of Dominican cuisine, turning into a truly local dish in every town, city and province of the country. Looking at its origins, fried chicken became one of the most popular foods in the Middle Ages, when the English and Scots, who later emigrated to the United States, adopted this tasty and easy recipe. Many also say that African people brought to that country at the time played a leading role in the history of fried chicken, since, unable to take varied food with them during their working days, they made it one of their main sources of nourishment.
The term “fried chicken” was first recorded in the 1830s and appears frequently in American cookbooks of the 1860s and 1870s, one of them being The United States Cook Book: A Complete Manual for Ladies, Housekeepers and Cook.
Some of the most common sides Dominicans enjoy with fried chicken are tostones, chips or mixed salad, whether at local restaurants or at home, while at international chains such as KFC, they have it with coleslaw, mashed potato or the tempting and famous biscuits.
Currently, the DiDi technology platform lets people in Santo Domingo connect and order from a selection of menus and items that include chicken, from a catalogue of restaurants registered on the app that serve this dish in its various forms, aiming to satisfy every taste and budget at any time of day.
To join the celebration of 6 July, World Fried Chicken Day, DiDi Food and KFC will offer attractive promotions so users can connect and order through the app and enjoy family buckets, big boxes, econo combos, sandwiches, individual combos, chick n’ share or any other dish from the KFC menu, breaded daily using 100% natural ingredients (wheat flour, milk, egg, salt, pepper and a blend of 11 herbs and spices), guaranteeing a juicy, fresh and crispy product.
“We want to be part of users’ best moments, and since we know Dominicans love and eat a lot of fried chicken, we’re presenting the “20% off the KfCeína Combo“ promotion, which includes a bucket with 8 pieces of chicken, 4 regular fries and 4 biscuits for the family to enjoy, plus free delivery, when ordering through DiDi Food from any of the 12 KFC restaurants in Santo Domingo,” said Carlos Contreras, Regional Communications Director at DiDi Food. The promotion will be valid on 6 July, under the terms and conditions at https://d.didiglobal.com/5kjTC
KFC prepares its recipes with Dominican chicken, and its cooks are certified as authentic KFC experts who bread the chicken fresh in the restaurant throughout the day. They also monitor the cooking of the chicken to ensure consistent quality.
For this celebration, app users will also get free delivery on the whole KFC menu from 4 to 10 July with a minimum purchase of $500, enjoying this benefit wherever they are, under the terms and conditions at https://d.didiglobal.com/5kjTC
The DiDi Food app is available in Santo Domingo and coming very soon to Santiago de los Caballeros.
