Santo Domingo, October 2022.- DiDi Food now features Taco Bell, present in the country since 1994, whose Tex-Mex-inspired cooking satisfies the most demanding Dominican tastes with the many varieties and innovations on its menu.
Since July, DiDi Food users have been able to order delicious hard-shell beef, chicken or steak tacos, crispy potatoes, crispy chicken tacos and nachos, as well as other amazing options. Every dish can be served with sour cream, guacamole, bacon, pico de gallo, ranch sauce, chipotle, jalapeño, melted cheese, and rice and beans as a protein substitute for vegetarians.
“Our mouths water just thinking about the innovations Taco Bell always offers, and we are delighted to have them on the app. To celebrate in style, we will be offering great promotions with the campaign,” explained Priscila Sandí, Regional Communications Manager for DiDi.
Knowing that Dominicans enjoy a variety of food and love hard-shell tacos, quesadillas and burritos, DiDi Food and Taco Bell are launching a promotion to satisfy app users’ appetites.
During the week of 24 to 30 October, DiDi Food users who order from Taco Bell can get 30% off the Campanazo Dobladilla, an iconic dish with melted cheese and beef.
Since Taco Bell opened its first branch on Avenida Winston Churchill 27 years ago, it has stood out as a pioneering and innovative fast-food restaurant that remains a favourite among Millennials and Generation Z.
Throughout its history in the Dominican Republic, Taco Bell has fuelled Dominicans’ passion for Tex-Mex food through its 14 branches. On its extensive menu, the best-selling meats are standard beef and chicken, while the hard-shell taco is the most popular tortilla. To offer diners more variety, it introduces seasonal products every year.
The origin of tacos
The story of the taco dates back to the 18th century. It is said to have been an easy way for women to prepare meals for their husbands to take to work, wrapping beef or pork in a tortilla.
According to the book The True History of the Conquest of New Spain, the first person to organise a taco party, or Mexican banquet, was the conquistador Hernán Cortés.
The popular dish reached the United States when groups of Mexicans began emigrating there to work in the mines and on the railways. The first record of tacos being eaten in the United States dates from 1905. Years later, Glen Bell, founder of Taco Bell, created the popular hard-shell taco, which remains one of diners’ favourite choices.
