Santo Domingo, 6 September 2022.- With a cocktail reception led by the Minister of the Presidency, Joel Santos, and the congress organisers, Fedor Vidal, CEO of Arium Salud Digital, and Amelia Reyes Mora, president of AF Comunicación Estratégica, the 2nd Latin American Digital Health Congress was opened.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt), Franklin García Fermín, and the vice-ministers Eladio Pérez of Collective Health and José David Montilla of Agenda Digital.

The event began with welcome remarks from Reyes Mora, who noted that the recent pandemic put a foot on the accelerator of digital transformation in every sphere, particularly the health sector. She also thanked the 50 companies and institutions that supported the congress.

Afterwards, Vidal, an international expert in technology and digital transformation of the health sector, thanked everyone present for being protagonists in the digitalisation of the health sector. “Today we open our second edition, The Road to Comprehensive Digital Transformation, a title that clearly reflects where we are and will set out the roadmap for driving the sector’s digitalisation in the country over the coming years.”

During the reception, Vidal also highlighted the achievements of Arium Salud Digital over the past three years. “We are very pleased with the journey we have made in this relatively short time as a leading health digitalisation company. To date we have processed millions of electronic health transactions and almost half a million electronic records, all achieved with top-level local talent, ready to be exported to the world.”

He also reported that Arium Salud Digital aims to double the millions of patients on its digital platforms by 2023, and expects to be working on proofs of concept for blockchain, artificial intelligence and predictive population health analytics projects.

On the opening night, the vice-president of the Dominican Health Tourism Association (ADTS) noted that the public relations firm AF Comunicación Estratégica works to make the world a better place, and that this is its greatest motivation for actively taking part in initiatives that seek to promote digital transformation in the health sector, such as this congress.

As part of the congress, Fedor Vidal and Magdalena Rathe, president and founder of Fundación Plenitud and technical adviser to the Social Security Observatory (OSES), will present the results of the Dominican Republic’s First Digital Health Study, an initiative and contribution of Arium Salud Digital, carried out by OSES and the (Santo Domingo Institute of Technology) INTEC.

The 2nd Latin American Digital Health Congress will feature three keynote lectures and seven expert panels made up of representatives of different health and technology organisations.  Alongside local leaders will be international experts from Argentina, Costa Rica, Colombia, Guatemala, the United States, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
