Agenda unveiled for the 7th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress

- This major event seeks to keep strengthening health tourism in the country and the region.
The Seventh International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress will be held on 22 and 23 October 2025 at the Hotel Marriott Piantini, Santo Domingo. The announcement was made by Dr Alejandro Cambiaso, president of the Dominican Health Tourism Association (ADTS), and Amelia Reyes Mora, president of AF Comunicación Estratégica and vice president of ADTS, who highlighted the importance of the event for the country brand and its potential to attract investment to the health sector.
The meeting will bring together more than 35 local and international experts and leaders from the health, tourism, finance, technology, insurance, government and securities market sectors, among others.
The day will open with words of welcome from Dr Víctor Atallah, Minister of Public Health and Social Assistance.
The forum will include three keynote lectures: “Improving the international patient experience” and “Access through systems integration” by Dr Marcela G. del Carmen, MPH, president of Massachusetts General Hospital and executive vice president of Mass General Brigham. There will also be the lecture “Leadership and sustainability”, by Dr Henry Gallardo, president of the International Hospital Federation, and the participation of a leading international figure on the theme “Revolutionising Health Tourism: The power of AI”.
There will be seven engaging panels: “Challenges, lessons and opportunities in health tourism and medical tourism”, moderated by Amelia Reyes Mora, with the participation of Dr José Natalio Redondo, CEO of Grupo Rescue and adviser to the Minister of Tourism; Dr Virginia Laureano, president of the Dominican College of Dentists; Milagros Ureña, general director of CEDIMAT; and Dr Aniceto Rodríguez, president of SODOCIPRE.
“Finance that transforms”, moderated by Dr Alejandro Cambiaso. It brings together René Grullón, executive president of Grupo Popular; Steven Puig, president of Banco BHD; Edgar Iván del Toro, executive president of Banco Caribe; Ysidro García, senior executive vice president for business at Banreservas; and Felipe Amador, CEO of Advanced Asset Management.
“Accreditations and certifications”, presented by Gastón Gabin, CEO of INTEGRA, alongside Michael Giuliano, president of Planetree; Dr Gerardo Mesa, director of Licensing and Accreditation at the Ministry of Public Health; Bill Cook, director of Operations and Business Development at Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA); and Guillermo Borel, CEO of AhoraDoctor – HIMSS Partner Latin America.
“The future of wellness tourism” will be moderated by Aguie Lendor, executive vice president of Asonahores, alongside Roberto Henriquez, deputy minister for the Quality of Tourism Services; Ricardo Felip, president of the tourism committee of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce; and Ana García Sotoca, executive director of the La Romana and Bayahibe Hotel Association.
“Innovations in the health offer in the Dominican Republic”, moderated by Franklin Glass, executive president of CADOAR. Taking part will be Dr Julián Sued, president of Unión Médica del Norte; Sergio Blasco, general manager of HOMS; Jesús Fernandes, executive president of Clínica Abreu; and Dr Mauro Barrantes, technical director of Laboratorio Referencia.
“Patient-centred design”, presented by Kathylka González, CEO of 1:1 Arquitectura, alongside Herly Valenzuela, president of Ureval, and José Antonio García, partner at Foster + Partners.
“The impact of technology on quality of care” will be led by Fedor Vidal, CEO of Arium Salud Digital, with Marcos Passarini, CEO of Skytel, and Rodrigo Cargua, manager of the Health Division at HDCO Group.
