The bank now holds the recognition of two of the market’s leading rating agencies, after receiving four rating upgrades in just five years.
Santo Domingo, November 2026 — Banco Promerica República Dominicana announced that Moody’s Local República Dominicana has assigned it an AA-.do rating with a stable outlook, an assessment that recognises the consistency of its financial performance, its sustainable growth and its ability to deliver on its long-term strategy.
The rating is an important recognition of the bank’s performance and marks an unprecedented milestone in Dominican multiple banking: four risk rating upgrades in just five years, reflecting a consistent track record of financial strengthening, responsible expansion and strategic execution.
According to Moody’s report, the rating is underpinned by the position the bank has achieved within the national financial system, its sustained above-market growth, reasonable asset quality, adequate liquidity levels and the benefits of belonging to Grupo Promerica (Promerica Financial Corporation), a financial group present in nine countries across Central America and the Caribbean.
The rating agency also highlights that Banco Promerica has established itself as the fifth-largest private bank by assets in the Dominican Republic, thanks to a strategy focused on sustainable growth, stronger operational capabilities and prudent risk management.
“This rating validates the transformation and strengthening we have driven in recent years, and it reflects the consistency of our strategy, the commitment of our people and the trust that clients, shareholders and partners have placed in our organisation. Achieving four rating upgrades in just five years is an extraordinary accomplishment that reaffirms our ability to grow profitably, prudently and sustainably,” said Carlos Julio Camilo, executive president of Banco Promerica.
The report notes that the bank maintains a growth strategy above the financial system average, supported by a solid corporate governance structure, regional risk management standards and continuous investment in technological capabilities and innovation. It also points to the strength of its liquidity position, its reserve coverage and the strategic backing of its parent company, factors that help strengthen its credit profile.
At the close of September 2026, Banco Promerica reached assets of around RD$92,404 million, maintaining growth above that of the multiple banking sector. The bank continued to post outstanding results, with year-on-year growth of 22% in its commercial portfolio and 29% in its mortgage portfolio, above the increases of 9.2% and 11.4%, respectively, recorded by the multiple banking sector. It also improved its profitability, with a 91% year-on-year increase in net profit, the result of efficient management, sound risk administration and the consistent execution of its sustainable growth strategy.
The new rating from Moody’s follows the recent upgrade awarded by Pacific Credit Rating (PCR), establishing Banco Promerica República Dominicana as one of the most dynamic and fastest-evolving institutions in the Dominican banking system and reaffirming its commitment to creating sustainable value for its clients, its shareholders and the economic development of the Dominican Republic.
