Banco Promerica recognised for its 100% digital Visa Credit Card issuance initiative

• Promerica is the first institution in the Dominican Republic to enable both customers and non-customers to apply for a credit card 100% digitally with immediate approval.

Santo Domingo, May 2023.– Visa Inc. (NYSE: V), a world leader in digital payments, has recognised Banco Múltiple Promerica of the Dominican Republic for its innovative initiative, which makes it the country’s first bank to enable financial users, both customers and non-customers, to apply for a Visa credit card 100% digitally and receive an immediate response.

Visa’s recognition was presented to Promerica at its offices, where the institution’s senior executives received a statuette highlighting the bank’s commitment and dedication in developing an innovative capability that allows users and interested parties to obtain a Visa Promerica card through its Promerica Móvil RD APP.

“Today at Visa we are very pleased to present this recognition to Banco Múltiple Promerica for its innovative initiative giving non-customers and interested parties access to a Visa credit card 100% digitally,” said Sofía Antor, general manager of Visa Dominican Republic. “It is an important step that helps facilitate access to digital payment methods in the country,” she added.

For his part, Carlos Julio Camilo, executive president of Banco Promerica, said it was a great honour for the bank to receive this recognition from Visa, a world leader in Digital Payments. “This award reaffirms the clear and robust digital transformation strategy we have been implementing in recent years, which has made us a benchmark in the Dominican market with the firm aim of delivering close, innovative and agile solutions,” said Camilo.

With the new digital Credit Card application and approval process, Promerica continues to stand out in its Payment Methods offering, being the only bank with partnerships with 3 airlines: Spirit, Copa and Iberia. It also allows its Visa Cards to be used through its Promerica Pay wallet, enabling customers to make digital payments from their mobile phones and smartwatches without needing the physical card.
