Regional collaboration is key to driving digital transformation in healthcare

• A Dominican expert who took part in the HIMSS 2023 global health summit highlights the need for cooperation to change the way healthcare is consumed and used.

April 2022.- More than 30,000 professionals from across the health ecosystem took part in the HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition 2023, the year’s most influential health information technology event, where they shared knowledge and experience on the sector’s latest trends and innovations.

“The problems of the health sector need technology to drive solutions,” says Fedor Vidal, CEO of Arium Salud Digital, who has attended HIMSS for 17 years.

He also noted that all leaders in the sector face the same challenges, problems and struggles, so at #HIMSS23, which featured some 250 educational sessions, they discussed opportunities to work together, driving digital transformation to change the way healthcare is consumed and used, impacting more than 600 million lives.

Speaking about his participation in the summit, held in Chicago, Vidal said: “This year was very special, not only because of all the familiar faces, innovative technologies, exponential change and the challenges we face globally; it was exceptional because we had the wonderful opportunity to sponsor the LATAM dinner with more than 50 health leaders who are transforming the fastest-growing region in the world.”

He added that the most relevant focus areas become more complementary every year, including artificial intelligence, provider burnout, lack of resources, access problems and system adoption.

The Arium Salud Digital executive also took part in meetings with HIMSS LATAM leaders on integrating the Dominican Republic into the Latin American community and bringing the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM), the highest standard of digital health certification, to the country.

At the event, which brought together professionals from every part of the global healthcare ecosystem, including CIOs and senior executives, more than 1,000 technology suppliers showcased innovative health technology products to solve the sector’s biggest challenges.
