Digital health expert Fedor Vidal takes part in the HIMSS global conference

Santo Domingo, March 2024.- The leading U.S. community dedicated to improving health through information technology, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), held its flagship event, HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition 2024, with more than 500 speakers, where technology and health topics were discussed and every component of the sector came together.
As in previous years, Arium Salud Digital, a leader in providing digital services and tools for the health sector, played a significant role: for the second year running it sponsored the HIMSS Latin America executive dinner, where it was responsible for speaking about regional integration in LATAM.
Fedor Vidal, CEO of Arium Salud Digital, noted that he has taken part in the HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition for more than two decades, this being his 18th time. “In previous years we have taken part as exhibitors, and we are also part of various focus groups on digitalisation worldwide.”
He explained that, given the importance of these events, Arium Salud Digital is focused on continuing to sponsor most of the HIMSS conferences held in LATAM. “Last year we attended three, and this year we will have the opportunity to be at seven HIMSS events.”
Part of the growth of this landmark event is due to the significant impact it has been having in Latin America with similar conferences in the region, as well as in different countries on each continent where it operates. HIMSS has a presence in North America, Europe, the United Kingdom and Asia Pacific.
He highlighted that the event, held in Orlando, Florida, had a very full academic agenda, where more than 35,000 professionals from the digital health ecosystem interacted, along with healthcare providers, developers, payers, health and regulatory authorities, and bioinformatics and cybersecurity experts. Artificial intelligence stood out as one of the topics of greatest interest in the educational programme.
The Arium Salud Digital executive said that HIMSS is one of the events with the greatest impact on the sector, for several reasons, including its academic agenda, which focuses not only on technology but covers every component related to health.
Topics discussed include patient safety, data and artificial intelligence, managing new clinics, structures and new business models, international governance, collaborations and universal standards, and coding – in short, every area of the health sector that technology touches or supports in some way.
Finally, the technology specialist and creator of the Digital Health Congress in the Dominican Republic stressed that it is important for decision-makers in the health sector to attend this kind of gathering, not only international ones such as HIMSS, but also local ones such as the Latin American Digital Health Congress. “By taking part, as well as learning about new technologies and understanding where the world is heading, we can make far-reaching changes within our companies,” said Vidal.
