The General Hospital of the Plaza de la Salud (HGPS) has opened its new Center for Comprehensive Care of Urology and Specialties (UROPLAZA), a new service focused on the patient with urological needs, where he will receive from outpatient care to complex procedures.
The inauguration of the new facilities, where the UROPLAZA operates, was carried out during a busy event headed by the president of the Board of Trustees of the HGPS, Dr. Julio Amado Castaños Guzmán.
In the words of welcome, Dr. Castaños Guzmán valued the contribution for the Dominican health system and especially for the patients that represents this integral service, where in addition to the highly specialized care, they will receive guidance and education aimed at preventing urological diseases.
UROPLAZA is in charge of the Urology Manager, Dr. Marlin Fernández Camilo, attached to a specialized medical team that includes nine urologists with subspecialties that provide clinical and surgical services through the emergency and the 24-hour hospital internment pavilions of the day, seven days a week.
This new area has services aimed at men, women, and children, ranging from consultations, minor outpatient and surgical procedures, including cystoscopy, urodynamics, circumcision, vasectomy to more complex procedures.
Also, it has modern equipment for endoscopic lithotripsy, either urethral, percutaneous and laser; Complete endourology (Percutaneous Nephrostomy, Pieloureteral Dysfunction Treatment and the entire range of endourological procedures), among others. The area has the specialized support of different hospital services, such as clinical laboratory, imaging, pathology, nephrology, and skilled nursing staff in the area, among others.
UROPLAZA has a physical space of 457.90 m², located next to ONCOPLAZA, which includes nine offices, three procedure rooms, reception area, comfortable waiting room for patients, administrative offices, equipment cleaning, and disinfection area, as well as others support spaces
The opening event was attended by directors and service managers, members of that governing body, as well as authorities and personalities from the health sector. Deacon Diogenes Garcia blessed the new facilities.
Specialties
The medical team of UROPLAZA is made up of doctors specialized in general urology and subspecialists in the areas of male sexual and reproductive health, oncological urology, female urology, pediatric urology, and transplantation as well as sex therapy.
