HOMS takes on a cutting-edge procedure in spine surgery

The patient had an extraforaminal disc herniation between the L3 and L4 vertebrae, affecting the right L3 nerve root. The Professional Medical Staff who performed the procedure was led by Dr. Andrés García Núñez, an orthopaedic spine, hip and knee surgeon, together with Dr. Jenny Capellán, anaesthesiologist, both of HOMS. How was this new procedure performed?

Using advanced technology from Maxmore Spine, a company internationally recognised for its innovation in equipment and implants for endoscopic surgery, the team reached the affected area through a small incision of less than one centimetre. With the patient under local anaesthesia and light sedation, an endoscopic camera was inserted, allowing the hernia to be removed precisely without collateral damage to nearby tissue.
