Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago backs racing driver Jimmy Llibre

- HOMS signs a collaboration agreement with the Dominican driver for his participation in the prestigious international “Porsche Carrera Cup North America” event.
Santiago, August 2023.- With the aim of boosting the international visibility of Dominican medicine, Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago (HOMS) signed a collaboration agreement with racing driver Jimmy Llibre, the first and only Dominican to win the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America Championship.
The agreement provides support for Llibre as a competitor in the 2023 season of the “Porsche Carrera Cup North America” Championship, a highly prestigious international event to be held in Indianapolis, California and Texas in September and October.
“In the north of the Dominican Republic, HOMS is the leader in health tourism, and we are committed to continuing to receive patients from different countries. As a hospital with an international outlook, we support Llibre because he is a leading sports figure who brings pride to the country abroad, flying our flag high,” said Dr. Héctor Sánchez Navarro, the hospital’s deputy general director.
With this support we also reaffirm our interest in encouraging new generations to work for their dreams, said the specialist in digestive, bariatric and robotic surgery.
Likewise, Llibre said motor racing is a sport with many fans around the world, so he is happy to receive the support of a healthcare organisation such as HOMS, to which he has decided to entrust his medical care ahead of his participation in the “Porsche Carrera Cup North America” championship.
At a meeting held in the HOMS auditorium, the agreement was signed by Dr. Héctor Sánchez Navarro and Jimmy Llibre.
The Dominican Republic is the Caribbean’s leading country for medical tourism according to the Medical Tourism Index (MTI), the sector’s main ranking. This niche market brings technology transfer, jobs and best practices, strengthening Dominican medicine.

About Jimmy Llibre
His passion for racing and speed was in his blood even before he was born; he attended races at circuits and listened to the roar of the engines, because his father was also an outstanding racing driver. At the age of eight he started karting, winning four national championships in different categories. In 2010 he was national karting runner-up in the mini category, and in 2011, 2012 and 2013 Jimmy won the championships.
On the track, Jimmy stands out among major world-class competitors for his speed and quick adaptation. Personally, he is studious, calm and, above all, humble. His talent and victories precede him, and there is no doubt that with his car he will dominate the biggest international races, as it is his dream and his discipline will get him there.
