Santo Domingo, July 2023. Huawei has opened registration for the 2023 regional edition of its flagship corporate social responsibility programme, Seeds for the Future, which every year gives university students across Central America and the Caribbean the chance to train in subjects related to ICT, 5G, artificial intelligence, the cloud, fibre optics and digital power.

“Young students from any academic background who register will have the opportunity to train exclusively for 8 days through virtual and in-person seminars in their home country. Through the TECH4GOOD project, they will also have on-site support for participants from the region and the chance to put their knowledge into practice and explore the tools technology offers for tackling social or environmental issues,” said Carolina Herrera, Public Relations Manager at Huawei Central America and the Caribbean.

The selected students will train alongside young people from other countries in Central America and the Caribbean, immersing themselves in an interactive and dynamic classroom with group discussions, debates and round tables that will ensure a cultural exchange.

There will also be official certifications and awards for the programme’s best leaders. Up to 3 best team leaders will be selected after the tutor’s assessment and will receive a Best Team Leader certificate.

How to take part

Registration is open to university students or recent graduates from any academic background at public and private universities in the following countries: Dominican Republic, Panama, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador and Venezuela, aged up to 30, with a command of English, an excellent academic record and an interest in Chinese culture, who are willing to take part in a project and a global competition.

Those interested can register until 31 August through their university or by signing up at https://forms.gle/iGWAUpNEhL9iXzur7. Once registered, a selection process will be carried out in which 20 students from the countries listed above will take part in the training sessions, to be held from 17 to 24 October this year in the country where they applied.

Registration requirements

A CV with a transcript or corresponding documents proving the candidate’s academic record.

A personal video of up to 3 minutes showing their interest in supporting their country’s digital development by carrying out projects using ICT as the main tools, their interest in learning about Chinese culture and their enthusiasm for learning about new technologies and ICT market trends.
