Dominican Republic, December 2022. Huawei, the world-leading technology company with more than 30 years of international experience, has dedicated itself to developing and delivering the latest technological advances to consumers around the world, and the Dominican Republic is no exception. At the same time, the company has reaffirmed its commitment to Dominicans to drive the country’s connectivity and digital transformation, actively supporting efforts to close the digital divide.

At a Christmas gathering with the media, customers and partners, Huawei presented its concrete contributions to the community through the intensive training programme Seeds for the Future, which has benefited Dominican students; its Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Academies, present at leading universities and technical institutions; the 1,000 Talents Programme, which seeks to include female talent in the digital world; and its Internship Programmes aimed at creating job opportunities.

Yunessis Sánchez, Public Relations manager at Huawei , highlighted: “Huawei is a company committed to the country’s development, driving not only technology but also the economy, accelerating digital transformation and the development of ICT talent. Our focus goes beyond delivering technology and the positive business results in the local market. For our company, what matters most is the value we can leave to society.”

She mentioned that 54.8% of Huawei’s employees worldwide are dedicated to research and development, and in 2021 the company ranked second in the world among private companies for R&D investment. To continuously support local ICT and digital development, Huawei decided to work with Dominican universities, institutions and government authorities to integrate their efforts into a broader initiative called the “National ICT Talent Development Plan”. This initiative aims to prepare young local talent to lead and contribute to the country’s digital development in the 4th industrial revolution.

It also stands out for its very high image quality, as it comes equipped with 50MP Ultra Vision Photography, effectively improving shots in low light and boosting versatility and creativity.

Huawei remains committed to consumers and the Dominican market, as shown by the recent introduction of new devices such as the HUAWEI Watch Fit 2, Band 7, MatePad T10 tablets and MatePad 10.4, MateBook D14/D15 laptops, Freebuds SE Bluetooth earphones and, for Christmas, the launch of our amazing HUAWEI nova 10, the perfect gift for the holidays.”
