[São Paulo, Brazil, 2 October 2023] At the LATAM Fiber Broadband Leaders Summit in São Paulo, Huawei launched three new fibre technologies – Trouble-Free ONT, Smart Wi-Fi 2.0 and Fiber Iris – to enable Digital LATAM.

Daniel Zhang, vice president of the Solutions and Marketing Department of Huawei Latin America, noted that the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of fibre subscribers in Latin America is currently around 17%. Latin American operators, like their counterparts elsewhere in the world, have promoted more scenario-based broadband services to meet users’ digital home needs.

“New home services bring new requirements for the fibre network. A better home experience, fewer home visits and faster troubleshooting are the three main concerns of Latin American operators.” Huawei’s three innovative digital fibre solutions will help operators build smarter, more efficient fibre networks.

Huawei Trouble-Free ONT is the industry’s first user self-optimising ONT (optical network terminal). It provides a unique 7 dBi antenna to increase home Wi-Fi coverage and uses Wi-Fi algorithm optimisation to increase home Wi-Fi speeds. Meanwhile, its innovative user self-optimisation helps operators reduce home visits.

Huawei Smart Wi-Fi 2.0 upgrades terminal-level analysis to application-level analysis, guaranteeing the quality of the FTTH (fibre to the home) experience. It provides analysis of poor application quality with an innovative OLT (optical line terminal) AEC (access edge computing) board, helping operators reduce subscriber churn. Smart Wi-Fi 2.0 also supports precise user profiling to help operators achieve upselling in the market.

Huawei Fiber Iris is a unique innovative technology from Huawei that provides visible, intelligent capabilities for passive ODN. Compared with traditional invisible, dark ODN, Fiber Iris marks each ODN port with an individual tag to enable remote acceptance and fault location. This greatly simplifies network maintenance, with fault location accuracy down to the metre.

During the event, Kim Jin, vice president of Huawei’s Optical Business Product Line, said: “Huawei continuously increases its R&D investment in the optical field and, as a result, has long led the development of the global optical networking industry. Huawei’s innovative 400G/800G ultra-broadband solution maximises single-fibre capacity to build the backbone network with the optimal cost per bit, and the innovative Alps-WDM solution helps operators build cost-effective 100G metro networks. In the future, we will work closely with all Latin American partners, jointly driving the F5G Advanced industry (fifth-generation fixed network) and building Digital LATAM.”
