- In 2025, the DiDi app saw a 16% rise in the number of connected driver users using its DiDi Moto technological solution and a 32% growth in ride requests made by passenger users, pointing to greater adoption and activity within the app.
Dominican Republic, 3 March 2026 – To mark International Women’s Day, the DiDi app recognises the fundamental role of the women who drive the economy and the mobility ecosystem in the country. In a context where financial autonomy is key, the DiDi Moto technological feature has established itself as a tool of empowerment, allowing more Dominican women to make the most of their time and earn extra income with greater flexibility.
In the Dominican Republic, the gender gap in the labour market remains a challenge: according to data from the National Continuous Labour Force Survey (ENCFT) cited by the National Statistics Office (ONE), the overall labour participation rate was 53.5% for women, against 78.3% for men in 2024. Faced with that reality, technological intermediation apps can become a bridge to flexible options that fit different lifestyles and responsibilities.
As a sign of that trend, between 2024 and 2025 the number of women connecting to the app as driver users through the DiDi Moto technological option grew by 16%. That result reflects growing interest in taking up two-wheel mobility solutions to earn extra income and manage their own time.
That growth can also be seen in activity within the app: over the same period (2024 to 2025), the number of ride requests completed by women driver users of the DiDi Moto technological option rose 32%, which shows an increasingly active participation in this option and its contribution to the dynamism of the country’s mobility ecosystem.
“At DiDi we work so that more women can find in the app a flexible option to earn extra income and manage their time according to their priorities. The growth of DiDi Moto in the Dominican Republic encourages us to keep strengthening initiatives focused on inclusion, safety and wellbeing, both for those who connect as driver users and for those who connect as passenger users,” said Douglas Quesada, communications manager for DiDi in the Dominican Republic.
On dates such as International Women’s Day, the DiDi app seeks to show how technology can support more women in making their way, connecting as DiDi Moto driver users and finding an alternative for earning extra income. That conversation matters all the more in a country where ONE also notes that a significant part of women’s labour inactivity is associated with family responsibilities and household tasks, which can limit their participation in other spaces
