Santo Domingo. – IntraCare Center is a health centre specialising in chemotherapy, palliative care and pain management, offering innovative services with the aim of improving the quality of life of adult and paediatric cancer patients.

The centre’s medical director and clinical oncologist, Dr. Pavel Reinoso, says IntraCare Center complies with biosafety standards and high standards of quality and safety of care, and has advanced systems and technology that guarantee protocol-based treatment with strict follow-up, in line with the standards of prestigious health centres abroad.

The centre’s innovations include its Digital Prescription and Active Traceability system, which allows oncologists and haematologists to prescribe chemotherapy treatments following international protocols.

The system optimises every step of validating, reconstituting and producing the prescribed medicines and chemotherapy mixtures, triggering multiple quality and safety checks during preparation to guarantee the correct dose for the patient and the doctor.

IntraCare is the first centre to introduce the Your Chemo at Home programme, which allows patients to receive treatment in the comfort of their own home for privacy or when they are unable to travel. The centre also has electric chemotherapy chairs that convert into wheelchairs and stretchers, making it easier to move patients without disconnecting them from their treatment.

IntraCare Center’s goal is to be the national reference centre for outpatient cancer treatment and for distributing cytostatic drugs to authorised hospitals and health centres.

The centre works with the country’s main insurers, including Humano (Max, Royal and Platinum plans); SeNaSa (subsidised, contributory, pensioner and retiree plans), Just, ARS Primera, ARS Banco Central, ARS Abel González, SURA, MAPFRE and Monumental.

The centre also provides blood and packed red cell transfusions (up to 2 pints), intravenous iron administration, palliative care and pain management, as well as port and catheter flushing, bone marrow aspiration and home care.
