Santo Domingo. Médico Express, a modern health centre designed, built and operated to international standards, has opened its doors in Santo Domingo Este, bringing world-class medical care within reach of the eastern part of the city.
Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, Executive President of Médico Express, says the centre offers high-quality health services that have a positive, transformative impact on the overall wellbeing of patients and communities. Its vision is to become a leading local and regional health centre and a benchmark in medical and technological advances, sustainability and innovation.
Francesco Fino, Vice President of Administration, Finance and Commercial Affairs at Médico Express, notes that the centre has a multidisciplinary team of specialists and a full range of outpatient services covered by the main local and international insurers.
Médico Express serves the eastern area, Dominicans living elsewhere in the country and abroad, and health tourists, generating significant transfer of technology and knowledge and around 200 direct and more than 400 indirect jobs, strengthening the municipality’s economy.
The centre offers emergency care, a clinical laboratory and advanced imaging studies, as well as vaccination services, executive health check-ups, an international department, and consultations in ophthalmology, cardiology, dentistry, neurology, dermatology, endocrinology and nutrition.
It also offers internal medicine, geriatrics, gynaecology, urology, family medicine, nephrology, pulmonology, orthopaedics, sports medicine, otolaryngology, paediatrics, psychology and radiology, among others, as well as outpatient surgery, an endoscopy unit, telemedicine and remote second opinions.
Médico Express is located at Avenida Coronel Rafael Tomás Fernández Domínguez #100, Santo Domingo Este. Patients can attend consultations Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., while emergency services are available Monday to Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
It has 8,500 square metres of floor space in a 4-storey building designed in line with the Ministry of Public Health’s local licensing rules and the standards of the American Institute of Architects.
Médico Express is the first health centre in Latin America with Fitwel certification, a recognition awarded for incorporating evidence-based design and operational strategies that support the physical, mental and social health of its staff and patients.
Strategic alliances
As a guarantee of its commitment to quality services, Médico Express has formed alliances with various national institutions, such as Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), Laboratorio Clínico Amadita, Instituto Espaillat Cabral, Esteva Patología Diagnóstica and CEDIMAT.
It has also signed agreements with renowned international medical centres, such as Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá and BarnaClinic, to ensure ongoing knowledge exchange and remote second opinions.
