Digitalising clinical processes helps identify potential health tourism patients

- Fedor Vidal, a digital health expert, explains that digitalising clinical processes makes it possible to identify potential health tourism patients and give them better care.
Santo Domingo. – The Dominican health sector has been working hard on digitalisation, and efforts have increased since the pandemic.
The major changes that have affected the entire global health system are leading its main players to begin adopting more modern, interconnected and patient-centred digital systems.

Fedor Vidal, CEO of Arium Salud Digital, says one of the goals of health digitalisation is artificial intelligence, which has delivered excellent results. “When it comes to health tourism, we see great benefits in identifying procedures and services in which the country could lead the region, and in comparative analysis of care costs and quality indices against other countries.”
He also stresses that this is only possible with the digitalisation of clinical processes and adherence to international clinical coding protocols.
Another benefit of using artificial intelligence in the health tourism sector is identifying potential patients within the general tourist population through population profiles and aggregated data, says Vidal.
Areas of impact
The health industry has been positively transformed in four areas thanks to digital transformation.
• An exponential increase in the efficiency of administrative processes.
• Access to quality healthcare for more people, faster and more safely.
• Democratisation of information for all players in the sector.
• Synergistic interconnection of players through smooth electronic processes that allow information to flow between them quickly.
Vidal explains that one of the main steps is to learn about hospital digital transformation through congresses and seminars held every year, such as the International Congress on Health and Wellness Tourism.
