3rd Latin American Digital Health Congress held in the Dominican Republic

The congress featured 30 speakers, including representatives of different organisations in the health and technology sectors.

Santo Domingo. -For the third time, the Dominican Republic hosted the Latin American Digital Health Congress, attended by the Minister of Public Health, Víctor Atallah, and the congress organisers, Fedor Vidal, CEO of Arium Salud Digital, and Amelia Reyes Mora, President of AF Comunicación Estratégica. 

Minister Atallah gave the welcome address, highlighting that this event is one of the most important in the region in the field of digital health.  

For his part, Vidal, an international technology expert, thanked everyone present for being protagonists in the digitalisation of the health sector.  

“This meeting is more than a platform for sharing ideas and showcasing technological advances; it is a testament to the evolution of healthcare in our region and to the power of technology to bridge gaps, transform care and improve the lives of all its citizens.” 

Reyes Mora thanked the more than 50 companies and institutions that supported the congress and highlighted that AF Comunicación Estratégica is an ally of the health sector, whose main purpose is to make its clients’ goals a reality through effective communication strategies. 

“It is encouraging to know that the Dominican Republic is building the path towards digital transformation in health, as shown by the recent launch of the national digital health strategy 2024-2028, to drive the strategic planning the sector needs.” 

At the congress, held at the JW Marriott hotel, 30 speakers addressed the future of digital health, the relationships and synergies between providers and insurers in a digital world, and the skills and challenges facing the health workforce of the future, among other topics that help improve processes and respond appropriately to the sector’s needs. There were also seven panels made up of representatives of different organisations in the health and technology sectors.  Local executives were joined by international experts from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the United States and Mexico. 

There were also four keynote lectures: “What is the future of digital health?”, with Rogelio Umaña, director of the Digital Thinking unit in Costa Rica; “The challenge of data interoperability and open platforms”, with José David Montilla, Vice Minister of the Digital Agenda at the Ministry of the Presidency (Minpre); and “Artificial intelligence applications to improve patient care”, by Dr. Alejandro Mauro, Chief Medical Officer for Digital Transformation at Clínica Alemana in Santiago de Chile. 

As well as government representatives, the Latin American Digital Health Congress was attended by players from the health and technology sectors and prominent figures from business and society.
