Eighth Academic Fair on Networks and Information Security held: ITLA Security Fest 2024

The event aims to foster the development of cybersecurity skills.
Santo Domingo: To great acclaim and enthusiasm, the Centre of Excellence in Networks, Security and Computer Forensics at the Instituto Tecnológico de las Américas (ITLA) held the eighth edition of Security Fest 2024.
The opening day featured the keynote “The Future of Cloud Cybersecurity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, given by engineer Miguel Matos, Solutions Architect at Huawei.
The event showcases the development of skills, strategies and research in the dynamic field of cybersecurity. It was held at ITLA‘s main campus in Boca Chica and was completely open to the public and free of charge, with the aim of broadening the opportunity to learn about and immerse oneself in technology tools and discover how they can be useful in daily life.
The final round of the Capture The Flag (CTF) competition was also held, an exciting challenge that puts students’ skills to the test.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Executive Director of the National Cybersecurity Centre (CNCS), Juan Gabriel Gautreaux, and several lecturers from the Centre of Excellence in Networks and Information Security were recognised for the commitment and dedication that make this great event possible every year.
Security Fest 2024 offered a programme of in-person and virtual talks, as well as workshops and competitions, over three days from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. In the 2024 edition, innovation made itself felt through the “Capture The Flag” competitions, known as CTF. The competitions were held simultaneously for the centre’s degree programmes.
About the cybersecurity game competitions
The final Networks, Cybersecurity CTF and Forensics CTF competitions will be streamed simultaneously for everyone interested to enjoy.
This will be followed by the awards for these disciplines and, as a closing activity, the panel “Solving the challenges of the different competitions”, led by Canó Academy, Pentraze, TechnologyINT and ITGenics.
