- Deloitte, Grupo Promerica and INCAE recognised 32 companies from seven countries, including the Dominican Republic, in the fifth edition of the Best Central American Companies programme.
On a night devoted to business excellence, Deloitte, Grupo Promerica and INCAE Business School celebrated in Panama City the close of the fifth edition of the Best Central American Companies programme (MECA). Under the banner “Driving the extraordinary”, MECA reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the region’s business ecosystem and recognises 32 medium-sized private companies from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and the Dominican Republic that stand out for their leadership, innovation and results.
“Even though the programme covers seven countries, each with its own culture, characteristics and nuances, there is something the Best Central American Companies have in common: excellence and continuous improvement. Being a MECA company does not depend on the country, it depends on commitment, on doing things well, with passion and purpose; on looking after our people, innovating and always seeking to leave a positive mark,” says Pilar Ruiz de Chávez, Best Companies Partner for Latin America.
Across 45 countries worldwide, this global initiative drives companies that lead with strategic vision and outstanding practices, through a comprehensive assessment in which participating organisations document a business case that is evaluated against the five drivers of Deloitte’s Value Map, a methodology that determines their level of business maturity.
“At Deloitte we recognise that medium-sized companies play a strategic role in the economy of Central America, Panama and the Caribbean. That is why we reaffirm our commitment to supporting them for another year through this solid, high-impact initiative, which offers guidance and tools to strengthen their management and accelerate their growth in the market,” says Rafael Sayagués, Managing Partner of the Central America, Panama and Dominican Republic Marketplace.
The 2025 edition began with a registration phase in which more than 120 companies from across the region applied. In the second phase, the companies received support from expert coaches at Deloitte, Grupo Promerica and INCAE Business School, who guided them in documenting their best practices and together devoted more than a thousand hours of pro bono advice. A multidisciplinary Deloitte committee then analysed the cases presented and shared the results with a group of advisers, made up of representatives of the promoting institutions and external advisers, who determined the final list of companies honoured as Best Central American Companies 2025.
Among this edition’s findings, the programme highlights that 63% of these companies are family businesses, which reflects their impact on the regional economy. In addition, 25% of the companies represented have women as CEO, showing progress in inclusion and opportunities to keep driving equity in senior management.
“At Grupo Promerica we believe in a stronger, fairer and more sustainable region. That is why we will keep driving initiatives such as MECA, which strengthen the business ecosystem and promote responsible leadership in Central America,” says Ramiro Ortiz, CBO of Grupo Promerica

The closing events, held in Panama City, brought together business leaders, institutional representatives and the media in a symposium centred on the use of artificial intelligence in business, followed by an awards ceremony celebrating the talent, resilience and positive impact of these 32 companies. To close the edition, both the recognised companies and the finalists received a feedback report drawn up by multidisciplinary experts, through which they identified key strengths, compared their performance with other private companies in the sector and obtained recommendations to accelerate their growth, improve results and encourage continuous improvement.
“With the close of our fifth edition, we celebrate the companies that, through leadership and transformation, are generating a positive impact in their communities. Since 2021, together with Deloitte, Grupo Promerica and INCAE, we have proved that leading with purpose generates a lasting social impact that our region’s development needs.
