Dominican students advance to the regional stage of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025

- Twelve students from PUCMM and INTEC came through the national stage of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 and will represent the country in the regional stage.
Santo Domingo, DR. – The ICT Competition programme, an annual initiative that since 2008 has promoted development and innovation in the information technology (IT) sector, marks a new milestone in its 2024-2025 edition.
Students from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) have come through the national stage and are preparing to represent the country in the regional stage of the competition, which brings together emerging talent from across Latin America.
A path of academic excellence
A total of 12 students (6 from PUCMM and 6 from INTEC) stood out for their technical skills and knowledge in Cloud, Computing and Network. Their qualification reflects not only the high academic level of these institutions, but also the Dominican Republic’s commitment to training professionals capable of competing in the global ICT market.
How to join the ICT Academy?
The competition invites all ICT students at Dominican universities to join this major event. Institutions such as the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), INTEC, PUCMM, the Instituto Tecnológico de Las Américas (ITLA) and INFOTEP are already part of the ICT Academy.
Those interested should contact their university’s systems engineering department to receive specialised training, access to technological resources and mentoring that will prepare them for future editions of the event.
Next steps: on to the regional stage
The qualifying teams will now face participants from all over Latin America in challenges that will assess their skills and knowledge in disruptive technologies. The regional stage will be held online in April 2025 and will be a key platform for young Dominicans to show their potential on an international stage.
