For the fifth consecutive year, Deloitte, Grupo Promerica and INCAE Business School are inviting leading companies in the region to take part, free of charge, in a continuous improvement process.

SANTO DOMINGO, March 2025: Best Managed Companies is a global Deloitte initiative that, since 2021, has been promoted in Central America together with Grupo Promerica and INCAE Business School. As well as recognising the excellence of the region’s most outstanding companies, the programme provides feedback on how participating companies can reach their full potential.

“In 2020 Deloitte, Grupo Promerica and INCAE Business School found a common goal: to support medium-sized private companies in Central America. Five years later, we are reaffirming this commitment and our dedication to Excellence,” says Pilar Ruiz de Chávez, Partner, Best Managed Companies Latin America at Deloitte Spanish Latin America.

Which companies can take part?

Taking part in MECA is free, but highly valuable. Companies that join the programme go through an in-depth assessment, guided by experts from Deloitte, Grupo Promerica and INCAE Business School, who analyse their business model and help them identify areas for improvement.

To take part in the programme, companies only need to meet the following requirements:

  • Be a private company, majority-owned by capital from the region (51% or more)
  • Have annual sales of between US$3 million and US$100 million
  • Have been operating for at least 5 years and made a profit in at least 2 of the last 5 financial years
  • Submit audited financial statements for the last 3 years (with a December year-end)
  • Be willing to share information about their strategy and results in order to obtain a comprehensive assessment that supports the company’s decision-making.

“The development of our region depends on companies that take on the challenge of growing. At Grupo Promerica, through MECA, we have spent five years supporting medium-sized companies that

stand out for being extraordinary and seek the right backing to make a lasting difference. We remain firm in our commitment to being the strategic partner that drives their evolution,” says Ramiro Ortiz Gurdian, Executive Director and CBO of Grupo Promerica.

More than recognition, a learning journey

Throughout the process, participants receive specialised advice and a detailed analysis based on Deloitte’s Value Map, which assesses five key drivers of business success: sales growth, operating margin, asset management, external factors and talent/sustainability.

In addition, at the end of the programme, every company, whether recognised or not, receives a free confidential report with strategic recommendations for continued growth.

“MECA gives companies an invaluable platform to measure and improve their performance, fostering a culture of operational and strategic excellence,” says Diana Espinoza, Leader of Best Managed Companies in Central America.

For INCAE Business School, MECA’s impact goes beyond recognition. Carla Fernández, Senior Director of Executive Education at INCAE Business School, stresses:

“In a challenging environment, medium-sized companies must show resilience and keep innovating. Through this programme, we reaffirm our commitment to excellence and business transformation.”

A future with more companies ready to grow

MECA does not just celebrate success, it helps build it. Companies from across the region have found in this programme an opportunity to raise their performance, connect with other leaders and strengthen their strategy.
