- The project was selected from more than 2,000 initiatives from over 180 countries and regions, making it the only entry from China to receive this award.

February 2024- Huawei’s Net Zero Carbon Intelligent Campus project has won the “Energy Globe World Award” (World Energy Award) in its 2023 edition. The project, also known as the “Net Zero Carbon Intelligent Campus project”, is a collaboration between State Grid Jiangsu’s Yancheng Power Supply Company and Huawei.
The “Energy Globe World Award” is presented by a group of organisations including the Energy Globe Foundation, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
In 2023, The Yancheng Low-Carbon & Smart Energy Industrial Park project was selected from more than 2,000 projects from over 180 countries and regions, becoming the only Chinese winner of this award.
This innovative project produces 85% clean energy. Compared with thermal projects producing the same amount of electricity, it saves 3 million kWh of electricity and 5,600 tonnes of carbon emissions a year.

Other honours include the “Champion” award at the 2022 World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). Dr. Anthony Hu Hao, chief expert of Huawei’s Electric Power Digitalization Business Unit, was applauded for his exemplary leadership of the project and gave a speech at the awards ceremony.
According to the international jury: “The project embraces five core values: net-zero carbon energy supply, multi-energy coordination, optimal energy efficiency, digital empowerment and cross-border innovation. It integrates renewables, centralised and distributed energy systems, hydrogen and energy storage. Energy, carbon and digital integration challenges are addressed through a three-dimensional approach, incorporating artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing for sustainable and intelligent operations. The project has received international recognition as a model for global carbon neutrality and sustainable development.”
The winning project is based on the net-zero carbon intelligent energy system and its T³ Transformation Model, which covers energy, net-zero carbon and digital transformation. The project focuses on net-zero carbon, energy and intelligent scenarios to achieve integrated planning, construction and operation. It serves as an example of how to build a green, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system in campus scenarios. It also helps cities and countries achieve their carbon neutrality goals.
Another honour previously earned by the project was being named for the 2022 Paulson Prize for Sustainability. The project’s core theories, architectures and solutions have also won the Best Paper Award and Best Presentation Award at the 2023 IEEE International Conference on Energy Internet and Energy System Integration and the International Forum on Power and Energy Development.
