February 2024.- Santo Domingo Este will have a modern outpatient healthcare centre designed, built and operated to international standards, promoting care centred on patients and their families.

Médico Express San Isidro is the first centre in a network distinguished by its cutting-edge design and model of preventive, diagnostic, surgical and emergency services, with a strong commitment to accessibility, medical tourism and the digital transformation of the Dominican health sector.

Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, executive president of Médico Express, says that “the institutional vision is to become a leading local and regional healthcare centre, a benchmark for medical and technological advances, sustainability and innovation, providing high-quality health services that positively impact and transform the overall well-being of people and communities.”

The specialist says they will bring multiple cutting-edge services and technologies to the eastern region for the first time, such as 128-slice computed tomography, 1.5 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging with artificial intelligence, tomosynthesis, smart outpatient operating theatres, an international department, an executive health check unit, telemedicine and remote second opinions, as well as a modern electronic medical record and patient platform, among other new features.

The features of Médico Express make it one of a kind in the eastern region, with 8,500 square metres of construction over four floors, 19 consulting rooms, two operating theatres, a clinical laboratory, adult and paediatric emergency care, modern ophthalmology, gastroenterology, cardiology and dentistry units, a vaccination centre and various medical specialties focused on comprehensive family care.

It is a centre that seeks to strengthen health as part of our country brand, with a design inspired by the local nature of the province of Barahona, using natural lighting and ventilation strategies and access to green spaces on every floor of the centre, including the basement, in line with the WELL Health-Safety Rating, which focuses on prioritising the health and safety of staff, visitors and other stakeholders.

Its infrastructure was designed in line with the Ministry of Public Health’s local licensing rules and the standards of the American Institute of Architects, conceived so that the centre has an indoor-outdoor connection. In this way, staff and patients can connect with nature and their surroundings, promoting accessibility and a sense of space and well-being.

Ramps and accessible areas were also built, and non-toxic, sustainable and recycled materials that help air quality were used. Ergonomic furniture was also used, with a layout that allows patients freedom of choice, supporting their control, comfort and privacy.

Médico Express is built on the concept of biophilia, connection with the natural world, achieved through natural light wells, outdoor spaces, solar panels, therapeutic gardens and outdoor terraces for yoga, with views of the sea and sky.

Wood-like textures, images of nature and a colour palette inspired by tones that promote relaxation and well-being have also been incorporated. Every detail of the centre is focused on improving the experience of patients and those accompanying them.
