JetSMART launches direct flights between Punta Cana and Colombia with fares from $30

- JetSMART arrives in the Dominican Republic with direct flights between Punta Cana and the Colombian cities of Medellín and Cali from 5 December 2025.
5 August 2025 — The ultra low cost airline JetSMART today announced two new international routes connecting Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) with the Colombian cities of Medellín and Cali, marking its entry into the Dominican market. The flights will begin operating on 5 December 2025 and are already available from $30 plus taxes each way.
With this expansion, JetSMART adds the Dominican Republic as the ninth country in its network of destinations and expects to carry more than 90,000 passengers across both routes during the first year of operation. The company also offers the possibility of redeeming tickets from 4,000 AAdvantage® miles plus taxes, thanks to its partnership with American Airlines.
Flights to Medellín will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays, while the route to Cali will run on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Estimated flying time is 2 hours 40 minutes to Medellín and 3 hours to Cali.
“This is a key step in improving the Caribbean’s connectivity with South America at affordable prices,” said Verónica Marambio Álvarez, Commercial Manager for International Markets at JetSMART. For her part, Carmen Caballero, president of ProColombia, stressed that the expansion “strengthens Colombia’s international network and diversifies the markets travellers come from”.
As well as connecting with Colombia, the new routes from Punta Cana will allow passengers to reach destinations such as Bogotá and Santiago de Chile through JetSMART’s domestic connections.
JetSMART currently operates more than 80 routes in South America and has been recognised three times as the region’s Best Low Cost Airline at the Skytrax World Airline Awards. Since it was founded in 2016, it has carried more than 42 million passengers with a fleet of 49 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, considered the youngest on the continent.
